BOERNE, TX–MAY 18, 2025–Muddy Watters SI 90, a son of the prominent sire Corona Cartel, celebrated a significant milestone on Saturday as his first stakes winner, Shot Of Takillya, triumphed in the $194,020 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs.

Shot Of Takillya, expertly ridden by jockey Raul Hernandez, Jr. and trained by Jorge Valenzuela, is owned and bred by Sunset Well Service Inc. The horse posted a running time of 16.881 seconds, achieving a speed index of 90. With this victory, Shot Of Takillya earned $97,010, bringing his career total to $120,071. He was also a finalist in the Grade 2 Louisiana Downs Futurity last March.

Bred in Texas, Shot Of Takillya is a gray 2-year-old colt sired by Muddy Watters and out of the mare Takillya Gurl, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. Notably, he was repurchased for $20,000 at the TQHA Yearling Sale.

From a limited number of starters, Muddy Watters has sired 15 winners, including two black type horses, with total earnings exceeding $675,000 and an average of over $17,775 per starter.

Muddy Watters' top performers include Shot Of Takillya SI 93 (two wins in four starts, $120,171, victor of the Old South Futurity and finalist in the Louisiana Downs Futurity-G2), Dakota Gurl SI 96 (four wins, $87,463), and Zooming For Muddy SI 95 (three wins, $57,544, finalist in the Sam Houston 250 Stakes).

Muddy Watters himself won or placed in four races and earned $94,855. He was a finalist in prestigious events such as the Rainbow Futurity (G1) and the Southwest Juvenile Championship (G1).

Out of the Broodmare of the Year, Runaway Wave SI 105, Muddy Watters is sibling or half-sibling to 13 black type horses, including world champion Wave Carver SI 104 ($1,005,946), and three-time champion Ocean Runaway SI 105 ($1,642,498), Grade 1 winner Waver Ger Down SI 95 ($436,415), etc. This lineage also includes other notable horses like Uncle D SI 96, Aqua Flash SI 96, and Call Me Cole SI 93.
