Champion Brace For Bernal Passes at Age 15

AMARILLO, TX–MAY 26, 2025– Racing champion Brace For Bernal has been euthanized due to infirmities of an old injury, owner Highpoint Horses LLC announced on May 20, 2025.

Foaled in 2010, the brown stallion is a son of Furyofthewind and out of the Shazoom mare Zoom Bracer. He was bred by Joaquin Lopez and raced by Noel Lopez-Prieto.

In 14 starts, he won nine races, with two seconds and earnings of $322,236. He won the Heritage Place Derby (G2), Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Derby (R), Bill Hedge Memorial Stakes, and Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge. He was second in the AQHA Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2).

Brace For Bernal was named the champion 3-year-old colt of 2013.

The stallion has sired 25 winners on the racetrack and horses that have earned more than $600,000, led by Mister Cabo ($73,905).
