BEAR RIVER, WY—DECEMBER 22, 2025—Power Jam added more momentum to his 2025 résumé Saturday at Evangeline Downs, as Power Of The Smile and C The Power both came through with stakes wins on the same card. Both runners had already proven themselves earlier this season with stakes victories at Delta Downs, and they backed it up again under the lights in Louisiana.
Power Jam will stand at Woods Farm for the 2026 breeding season, with his fee set at $1,700.
From five crops to race, Power Jam has accounted for nearly $2.2 million in earners, with 49 winners and 11 black-type earners from 83 starters. He has sired eight $100,000+ earners, and his starters are averaging $26,183 in earnings.
Among his top money earners are Sounds Like Power (TB) ($165,894), third in the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes; Candys Special Power SI 96 ($150,581), runner-up in the Los Alamitos Oaks-G1 and the Black Gold Fillies Futurity; The Knockout Power SI 97 ($147,856), a finalist in four graded stakes events; Streaks Of Power SI 99 ($139,354), winner of the Distaff Challenge Championship Stakes-G1 and Los Alamitos Distaff Challenge Stakes; and Leavinematthebar SI 95 ($135,013), winner of the Gary Baber Memorial Stakes and Sam Houston 550 Stakes.
POWER OF THE SMILE
Power Of The Smile dug in late to capture the $35,000 EVD 870 Stakes on Saturday, December 20, at Evangeline Downs, earning $21,000 for the win.
Breaking from post 4 under Pedro Espinosa and racing into a stiff 13 mph headwind, the gray gelding tracked the early leaders, moved up on the turn, and locked into a stretch duel with Explosive Legend. Power Of The Smile prevailed by a head, covering 870 yards in 46.685 seconds and posting an 86 speed index.
Power Of The Smile has lit the board 14 of 18 starts with $122,345 in earnings, He won the Virgil Bond Stakes and placed second in the Live Oak Stakes earlier this season.
Bred, owned, and trained by Jumonville Farms, Power Of The Smile is out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Beyond The Smile, a two-time winner and graded stakes finalist.
C THE POWER
C The Power followed with a sharp performance in the $40,000 Leverne Perry Stakes, stopping the clock in 13.329 seconds for a 92 speed index at 250 yards while facing a 10 mph headwind. The victory was worth $24,000, and he paid $9.80 to win at 7-2 odds.
Ridden by Humberto Vital, C The Power broke fourth, drifted out, then quickly took control and stayed on to score by three-quarters of a length. He is trained by Juan Montoya Jr. for owner Juan M. Montoya Sr.
The 4-year-old has now made 20 starts with five wins, two seconds, and two thirds, and he has climbed past the six-figure mark with lifetime earnings of $106,773.
Bred in Louisiana by Ken O’Brien, C The Power is out of the First Down Dash mare High Plains Prize. His 2025 campaign has now produced multiple stakes highlights, including a win in the Delta Dash Stakes, a runner-up finish in the Titanium Stakes-G3, and a third-place effort in the BOCO Overnight Stakes.
