ROCKVILLE, IN–FEBRUARY 16, 2026– Champion sire Jess Zoomin passed away earlier this year at the age of 20 following a freak stall accident, closing the book on a career that left a lasting mark on the Quarter Horse industry.
Owned by Mark and Teresa Myers and Roger Cyrulik, Jess Zoomin made his presence known early on the racetrack. He won four races and earned multiple graded stakes placings before retiring in 2009 with $461,126 in earnings.
He finished second in the Texas Classic Derby-G1 and Heritage Place Futurity-G1, and third in both the All American Futurity-G1 and the Championship at Sunland Park Stakes-G1. He entered stud in 2010, carrying with him the kind of résumé that commands respect in any era.
“His racing stats speak for themselves, both as a runner and producer, but what we will miss most is his silly personality! From hugging his people (iykyk) to demanding you tug on his tongue (again, iykyk) he had a presence that said I know my job, but I’m really just a big kid!” said his owners.
Acquired by the Myers and Cyrulik partnership in 2016, Jess Zoomin stood most recently at West Central Veterinary Services in Rockville, Indiana, after relocating there in 2023.
As a sire, he delivered in a big way. He is responsible for more than $5.4 million in progeny earnings, 35 black-type horses, multiple AQHA champions and an average of nearly $24,000 per starter. Eleven of his offspring surpassed the $100,000 mark.
His leading money earner, Jes An Angel SI 99 ($506,198, AQHA Champion Two-Year-Old Filly, G2 winner), captured three stakes including the Southwest Juvenile Championship-G2 and earned her championship title in 2022. His first champion came in 2018 with Zoomin Racer SI 105 ($211,883, AQHA Champion Distance Horse), a four-time stakes winner who carried his sire’s banner with distinction.
Other standouts include J Bar SI 97 ($210,224), J Boy A SI 106 ($188,849), Zoomin Feature SI 94 ($173,587) and Zoomin Baby SI 102 ($169,778)—each reinforcing the consistency and versatility Jess Zoomin stamped into his runners.
He is a son of champion sire Shazoom, whose progeny have earned nearly $24 million. His dam, the blue hen mare Jess An Illusion by Mr Jess Perry, adds another layer of strength to an already deep pedigree.
Backed by a family of stakes winners, Jess Zoomin SI 106 ($461,126, G1-placed) is a full brother to Grade 3 winner Mister Big SI 106 ($239,390), and half-brother to stakes winners Seize The Win SI 107 ($270,415), Justafamilytradition SI 110 ($125,391) and Grand Ilusion SI 106 ($27,720)
The black type in his immediate family keeps going. He is also a full brother to Grade 2 runner up Jess A Swingin, dam of multiple stakes winner FDD Swingin Dynasty SI 111 ($100,793) as well as to the dam of stakes winners Sixes Flash SI 105 ($167,285) and FDD Princess SI 103 ($79,406).
He is also a half-brother to stakes-placed winners Mister Illusion SI 101 ($249,294), Hes No Ilusion SI 104 ($123,060) and Trashy Tres SI 104 ($21,333), who is the dam of stakes winner Gone Grand SI 98 ($138,278).
His second dam, AQHA Hall of Fame horse and AQHA Champion Indigo Illusion SI 110 ($867,417), produced 12 winners and three stakes winners, including Magic Dozen SI 106 ($289,338), Illusive Feature SI 100 ($64,289) and First Place Dash SI 99 ($64,160)—further underscoring the depth of the family Jess Zoomin both represented and enhanced.
“We’ve lost a few over the years, they take a piece of your heart when they go, this guy took a chunk! Special thanks for the extraordinary care by the staff at West Central Veterinary Services who are as devastated as we are, Dr. Ted, Chase, Amanda and all of the others that had a connection,” his owners shared.
In a breed built on speed, grit and heart, Jess Zoomin embodied all three. He proved himself under the brightest lights in racing and then quietly went about building a legacy in the breeding shed that will carry his name forward for generations.
His owners concluded “For us we cry, for Jess we feel joy, his body can now do the things his mind said he could still do! Forever grateful for the ride you took us on, it was fun tagging along! Now it’s your time… Run your race big guy! We’ll see you again someday!”
