PHOENIX, AZ–FEBRUARY 28, 2026–Tell Cartel is starting the season on a high note with eight winners and a new track record setter, further reinforcing why he remains firmly entrenched among the nation’s leading young sires. Versatile, productive, and capable of siring speed, he continues to get runners that win across the country.
Tell Cartel currently ranks as the nation’s #1 leading third-year sire and has consistently finished among the top 10 nationally with each of his first two crops to race.
Already in 2026, he has sired eight winners, including his most recent standout, Tell America. The four-year-old filly captured a 330-yard race at Turf Paradise on February 28, setting a new track record while earning a 107 speed index in 15.491 seconds.
Tell America was previously a finalist in both the AQRA Futurity and AQRA Derby. She owns a 2-2-4 record from 17 starts with $29,338 in earnings. Owned and trained by Orlando Guerrero, the Martha Wells-bred filly is a $10,500 graduate of the Los Alamitos Equine Sale.
Tell Cartel has topped the Arizona sire charts with every crop to race.
His winners at Turf Paradise this season include Apollitical Tell (January 8), First Down Karma (January 15), Tell Tyrus (January 31), Say Its Not So (February 10), Turn It Upp (February 16), and Goodbye Tyme (February 24). He is also the sire of Dontellmomma, who won an Allowance at Los Alamitos on January 31.
Block N Tell added black-type credentials to his sire’s early-season resume with a third-place finish in the Desert Classic Derby, marking Tell Cartel’s first black-type performance of the year.
The sorrel gelding, bred, owned, and trained by Matt Fales, was also third in last year’s AQRA Juvenile and fourth in the Desert Classic Futurity and has $22,907 in the bank.
From just three crops to race and only 57 starters, Tell Cartel’s numbers are significant. He has sired more than $1.3 million in earnings, with 42 winners (74%), 13 black-type horses (23%), and nearly $23,000 in average earnings per starter.
