Fire Warning Breaks Maiden as Fastest Qualifier to Rising C Equine Futurity at Energy Downs

GILLETTE, WY—JUNE 6, 2021—On the Sunday card in Gillette, three trials determined the field for the 300-yard Rising C Equine Futurity. Fire Warning tops the qualifier list for the $15,000-added final scheduled for June 26.

Fire Warning ($18.40) upset the field as the winner of the second trial with a time of 15.120 and a 108 speed index. Rey Hernandez was aboard for the victory in which the gelding led at every call to win by a half-length.

Fire Warning is trained by Tyler Gibbs for owners Gibbs, Thompson and Ostdahl. He was bred in Arizona by Ralph and Carolyn Fales, by Heat Warning and out of the stakes winning mare Fly Thru Fire, by Walk Thru Fire.

Sunday’s trial was Fire Warning’s first victory in three career efforts. He finished second in his debut, a trial for the Hadley Giles Futurity, and competed in the futurity’s consolation.

Suzes Dynasty, the winner of the third and final trial, was the second fastest qualifier with a time of 15.171 and a 106 speed index. With Berkley Packer aboard, the filly defeated fourth fastest qualifier and heavy favorite Cowboyhatbygucci by three-quarters of a length.

Suzes Dynasty ($20.40) raced twice at Remington Park before shipping to Wyoming for the trial. She finished second in a maiden race there and was third in her trial for the Remington Park Futurity in April.

The FDD Dynasty filly is trained by Josh Taylor for owner Bill Doenz. She was bred in Oklahoma by Flag Ranch, LLC, out of the Mr Eye Opener mare Brown Eye Suze.

The same connections also teamed up for the third fastest qualifier, Zoomin Jess. The Apollitical Jess filly was second in the second trial behind fastest qualifier Fire Warning with a time of 15.212 and a speed index of 105. Berkley Packer had the call and rode three of the ten qualifiers; trainer Josh Taylor trains four of the qualifiers.

Zoomin Jess was also bred in Oklahoma by Flag Ranch, out of Zoomin Doll, by Shazoom. Like her stablemate, she had two efforts at Remington Park this spring.
