U Need Me Fastest of Four Arrossa Trainees in Roche Equine Futurity Trials at Jerome
The Jerome Fair hosted three trials for the Roche Equine Futurity on Sunday's race card.

U Need Me Fastest of Four Arrossa Trainees in Roche Equine Futurity Trials at Jerome

JEROME, ID—JUNE 6, 2021—In the first of two sets of trials at Jerome on Sunday, U Need Me set the fastest qualifying time to the $7,000-added Roche Equine Futurity. The 350-yard final will be held on June 20.

U Need Me ($2.60) won the second of three trials as the post-time favorite in 18.209. Jockey Jose Vasquez rode the A Revenant gelding to a commanding lead of nearly three lengths.

U Need Me is trained by Monty Arrossa for owner Dorian Montero. Arrossa trained half of the eight qualifiers. He was bred by Michael and Shannon McKay in Oregon, out of the Splash Bac mare Time to Splash Bac.

He is undefeated in two career starts; prior to Sunday’s trial, U Need Me broke his maiden in his debut at Pocatello in May.

Second fastest qualifier Jess Your Corona ($11.60) won the first trial in 18.358 with jockey Jesus Afanador. He finished a half-length in front of third fastest qualifier Chicks Dashin Bandit.

Jess Your Corona was bred in Utah by Bnb Racing LLC and R. Broderick. He is sired by Daguerre and is out of Stoli Your Corona, by Stoli. Cesar Luna trains for owner Adan Marin.

Jess Your Corona broke his maiden in the trial. He was second in a trial for the Crush the Curve Futurity at Pocatello and competed in the futurity consolation in May.

Chicks Dashin Bandit was second in the same trial and posted the third fastest time of 18.431. Jose Borbonio had the call for trainer Monty Arrossa.

Chicks Dashin Bandit is a homebred for Five Livestock Company LLC, who bred the gelding in Idaho by Coronas Fast Dash and out of the Spit Curl Jess mare First Prize Chicks. He had one previous start, a third-place finish in a maiden race in South Jordan.

The winner of the final trial, Zoomin for Triz, was the fourth fastest qualifier in 18.508. Zoomin for Trix ($10.40) was ridden by Jose Vasquez for Monty Arrossa and the Walker Family Trust. She was bred in Idaho by Jim Walker, by Zoomin for Bux and out of the One Sweet Jess mare Doing Trix.
