Classic Dynasty Dash Gate to Wire Winner of the $16,600 Wyoming Bred Classic Stakes at Energy Downs

GILLETTE, WY – MAY 21, 2023 – One of the featured Quarter Horse races of the Sunday card at Energy Downs was the $16,600 Wyoming Bred Classic Stakes, won by the heavy post-time favorite, Classic Dynasty Dash.

The $16,600 Wyoming Bred Classic Stakes is a 400-yard event for accredited Wyoming-bred Quarter Horses, Paints and Appaloosas aged three and up.

Classic Dynasty Dash ($3.20) and jockey Jesus Valenzuela broke on top and held their early lead to win by a half-length over Eyesa Special Swirl and Luis Peralta. The final time of :20.220 earned the winner an 82 speed index.

Trained by Kylie Valenzuela for owner Jose Rico, Classic Dynasty Dash is a 4-year-old gelded son of Jr Dynasty Mountain. He was bred in Wyoming by Ron and Laurie Moosman, who also bred the dam, Steffiesclassicdash, a stakes winning daughter of Winners Version.

Classic Dynasty Dash added another win to his impressive record, making him 10 for 13 lifetime with $119,712 earned. This was his third consecutive win, following a trial win and victory in the Rock Springs Wyoming Bred Derby last fall at Sweetwater. As a 2-year-old, he won the Ron Cook Wyoming Bred Futurity at Wyoming Downs and the Rock Springs Wyoming Bred Futurity.

Eyesa Special Swirl chased valiantly but could not quite catch the winner. The 4-year-old filly is trained by Jesse Villegas for owner and breeder Broken Bones Cattle Company. She is by Eyesa Special Slim and is out of Lil Charolette Swirl, by Sixs Charlie Brown.

Eyesa Special Swirl was the winner of the Dan Lockie Derby in Miles City last year and finished second in the Wyoming Stallion Breeders Derby in Rock Springs. She is nine for 17 lifetime with $57,334 in earnings.

Sb Timetoshine completed the trifecta under a ride from Uriel Dominguez for trainer Jess Matt. The Turbulent Times filly is a out of Southern Surfer Girl, by Southern Cartel, and is a homebred for Steve Berry.

Sb Timetoshine is multiple stakes placed, including the Rock Springs Wyoming Bred Futurity and the Ron Cook Wyoming Bred Futurity. She has earned $39,418 in 18 starts, with four wins.

Completing the field were Bigg Brown, Diamond Dusting, Kcross Cuatro, Yo Brindis Delite and Docs Fast Kick.
