ROCK SPRINGS, WY–SEPTEMBER 17, 2023–Ross Brown and Elsha McGarry’s Er Switching Mtns raced to a half-length win at Sweetwater Downs Sunday while setting the fastest qualifying time for the Wyoming Bred Maturity.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the Rock Springs, Wyoming racetrack on Saturday, September 30th to vie for the winner’s share of a $20,000-added purse at a distance of 400 yards.

Under jockey Juan Rivas, Er Switching Mtns covered the 400 yard task in :19.507 seconds, equaling a 110 speed index with an 8 mph tailwind, to establish the day’s top mark.

Also trained by Ross Brown, the 4-year-old son of multiple stakes sire Jr Dynasty Mountain has won five of 17 career starts and earned $23,718. Bred by Ron and Laurie Moosman, from the Chickie Cherry Cola mare Rm Switching Chicks, Er Switching Mtns was fourth in the KC Carden Wyoming Bred Derby last year.

Cayenneoverthemoon, under jockey Shaunda Larsen, posted a head win over Diamond Dusting in the opening trial to get the second fastest clocking of :19.531 seconds, a 109 speed index with a 10 mph tailwind.

Tryston Matt trains the multiple stakes winning daughter of Brindis Por Cayenne for owner Walter Larsen. S Bar S bred the chestnut 4-year-old form the Apollo (TB) mare Dashmtothemoon. She has won nine of 20 starts and banked $94,756.
