TEMECULA, CA—OCTOBER 5, 2014—Champion and champion sire Hawkinson has returned to California for the 2015 breeding season where he will stand at his owner's EG High Desert Farms near Temecula. His fee has not been announced.
Hawkinson sired his 34th stakes winner on Saturday (Oct. 4) when Bf Farm Boss SI 95 won the $375,000 PCQHRA Breeders' Futurity(RG2) at Los Alamitos Race Course. The 2-year-old colt has won five of seven starts this season and earned $231,005.
Owned and raced by EG High Desert Farms, Hawkinson won or placed 18 of 28 career starts while earning $448,299. Named AQHA Racing's Champion Aged Stallion in 2001, he won the Los Alamitos Winter Championship(G1) and Go Man Go Handicap, was second in the QHBC Championship Classic(G2) and third in The Championship at Sunland Park (G1), Spencer Childers California Breeders' Championship(G1) and El Primero Del Ano Derby(G2).
Bred in California by Edward C. Allred, Hawkinson if from the "Blue Hen" multiple champion producer and stakes winner Oh La Proud SI 91 ($52,873), by Shirley's Champion(TB), dam of 22 ROM, 19 winners. Her other produce include AQHA Racing champion 2-year-old colt and stakes sire Hawkish SI 105 ($685,631), Grade 1 winner Flame N Flash SI 93 ($422,776), Grade 2 winner Pride Of Katella SI 104 ($199,187), stakes winner and G1 placed Look Her Over Si 101 ($170,549), G3 winner Rare Walker SI 120 ($110,702), stakes winner Mister Katella SI 103 ($88,510), stakes-placed Duardo SI 93 ($27,382) and stakes-placed Our Man Scott SI 101 ($21,565), etc.
