Red Storm Cat to Stand at Oklahoma Stud

PURCELL, OK—SEPTEMBER 15, 2009—Grade 1 stakes-placed winner Red Storm Cat has been retired from racing and will stand the 2010 breeding season at Oklahoma Stud Ranch in Purcell, Oklahoma.

“We are incredibly excited to stand such a talented, impeccably bred stallion as Red Storm Cat,” Milt Alderman, manager of Oklahoma Stud said. “This first year sire has a promising future and we are honored to be a part of his history.”

Red Storm Cat won or placed in eight of 12 lifetime starts with a bankroll of $226,439. He finished second in the Texas Classic Futurity(G1) and was a finalist in the All American Juvenile Invitational and Cherokee Challenge Stakes.

The son of leading sire Mr Jess Perry is owned by the Georgia Connection, a partnership of Julie Pilgrim, Lynda Hickman, Robert and Karen Nunnally. Bred by Julianna Hawn Holt's Cross Triangle Ranch, he was a $330,000 Ruidoso sale yearling.

At 2, Red Storm Cat won his trial to the $2 million All American Futurity(G1) by ½ length and was the 13th fastest qualifier. He won his Texas Classic Futurity(G1) trial by ¾ of a length and returned to finish a neck off Champion Illegal Memories in the $1 million final.

The 4-year-old sorrel hails from one of the industry's strongest female lines. His dam is grade 1 stakes-placed winner Tiny Dash Of Cash ($211,118), by Dash For Cash. She finished second in the Rainbow Futurity(G1) and was a finalist in the All American Derby(G1), Dash For Cash Derby(G1) and Rainbow Derby(G1). From four foals to race she is the dam of four ROM winners includes stakes winner Sizzling ($147,912), a multiple stakes winner and finalist in the Los Alamitos Million Futurity(G1), etc.

She has also produced two full siblings to Red Storm Cat, Dash Of Perry ($382,390), second in the All American Futurity(G1), and Pepper Perry ($61,479 to 3, 2009), a finalist in the Rainbow Derby(G1) and Sunland Winter Futurity(G2).

The second dam, Tinys Effort by world champion triple crown winner Special Effort, is the dam of six winners including Champion 3-Year-Old Filly Tinys First Effort ($445,393), Tiny First Down ($317,881), Crash Thru Traffic ($140,595). She is the granddam of grade 1 Charger Bar Handicap winner Terrific Energy ($80,406 to 4, 2009).
