Sug La Blue Top Qualifier In John Deere Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge Trials

ALTOONA, IA—AUGUST 1 2022—Starting off a maiden win June 19th, Sug La Blue took his second consecutive trip to the Prairie Meadows winners' circle on Monday when he defeated Always Interesting to set the fastest qualifying time for the John Deere Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from two trial races contested today for Challenge enrolled 2-yaer-olds, will return to the Iowa raceway on Sunday, August 21st, to vie for the winner's share of a $30,000-adeed purse going 350 yards,

In addition the winner will earn a starting spot in the Grade 2 $125,000-est. John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship to be held October 22nd at Horseshoe Indianapolis during the Bank of American Challenge Championships.

Sug La Blue, under jockey Daniel Torres, edged away from the field to stop the timer in :17.778 seconds, a 90 speed index, the top qualifying mark of the day.  The two-time winner has earned $16,639 in four career starts this season.

Trainer Shawna Manriquez saddled the Alabama-bred son of multiple stakes sire One Sweet Jess for owner Adrian Carranza. Daniel Pugh bred the $9,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate from the First Prize Perry mare Za Za Blue.

Futurity winner Beep Beep Rev Rev was a half-length winner in the opening trial to set the second-fastest time of :17.784 seconds, also a 90 speed index.  Edwin Escobedo had the riding call for leading trainer Jason Olmstead.

A Minnesota homebred, racing for owner-breeder Summer Run, Inc., is by the leading second-crop sire A Revenant from the Shazoom mare Etta Betta Zoom by Shazoom. Beep Beep Rev Rev suffered his only loss in his last start, a troubled effort in the MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity at Canterbury Park July 13th. Prior to that he won the North Star State Futurity in June.

Beep Beep Rev Rev has compiled a (5) 4-0-0 record and banked nearly $40,000.
