EDMONTON, AB–JUNE 20, 2026–O Sawyer led every step of the way to capture the $37,026 Adequan Century Mile Derby Challenge on Saturday at Century Mile Racetrack. The 400-yard final for 3-year-olds was contested over a sloppy track.

Ridden by Daniel Garcia, O Sawyer broke sharply and went straight to the front before holding off a late charge to win by one length. The black gelding stopped the clock in 20.043 seconds while earning a 99 speed index.

Owned and trained by Wesley Oulton, O Sawyer was bred in Alberta by Wesley and Susen Oulton. He is sired by First Timber and out of the Separatist mare Lets Get Going.

The victory improved his record to 11 starts with two wins, three seconds, and two thirds while increasing his earnings to $55,650. O Sawyer won last year's Century Mile Juvenile Challenge Stakes and was a finalist in both the AQHA Juvenile Challenge Championship Stakes (G2) and Canada Cup Futurity (G3).

West Southwest rallied late to finish second under Alexander Marti after bobbling at the start. The filly closed strongly through the final yards but came up one length short at the wire while earning a 97 speed index.

Owned by Jerry Stojan and trained by William Leech, West Southwest was bred by Steve D. Burns, DVM and sold for $20,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale. The daughter of Mpshinning is out of a full sister to stakes winner West Coast Hawk ($209,373).

She now owns a record of seven starts with three wins and one second while earning $57,604. The filly entered the race off a fifth-place finish in the Horsemen's Division 1 Derby and concluded her juvenile season with a victory in the Canada Cup Futurity (G3).

Stablemate Cervezas Fire finished third under J. Botello after making a bid in mid-stretch before flattening late. The filly earned a 96 speed index.

Also owned by Jerry Stojan and trained by William Leech, Cervezas Fire was bred by Charles Stojan. She is sired by Cerveza Corona and out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Getit Hot.

The filly now sports a record of seven starts with three wins and two thirds while earning $29,215. She entered the race off a fourth-place effort in the Horsemen's Division 1 Derby and won last year's Sale Stakes Futurity.

The Greek Freek finished fourth and was followed by Warning Shott, One Tough Cerveza, and Jess The Train.
