SUNLAND PARK, NM—DECEMBER 31, 2019—Stakes winners Donelli and Stominado are among the 56 New Mexico-bred 3-year-olds entered in Friday’s 400-yard Shue Fly Stakes (RG2) trials at Sunland Park.

A homebred gray daughter of Big Daddy Cartel, Donelli is trained by Wes Giles for Mac and Janis Murray’s MJ Farms at Veguita, New Mexico. The filly will be making her first start since September 22, when she scored a three-quarter length victory in the 400-yard, $386,196 New Mexico State Fair Futurity (RG3) at Albuquerque Downs.

Donelli has earned $209,298 from five outs. The filly drew post 8 and will be ridden by Alan Hernandez in the first of six trials.

Stominado is trained by Juan M. Gonzalez for owner J. Patricia Gonzalez. A sorrel son of champion First Moonflash, the gelding is coming off of a 2-year-old campaign during which he banked $194,701 from seven races and scored a nose victory in the 400-yard, $326,530 New Mexico Cup Futurity (RG2) at Zia Park on October 27.

Stominado drew post 6 and will be ridden by Jaime Leos in the fourth heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the January 26, $115,000-added Shue Fly Stakes final.
