AJAX, ONT—AUGUST 30, 2020—Princess Derby Stakes winner One Kool Dynasty seeks more riches Wednesday, September 2 at Ajax Downs as she goes postward as the favorite for the $56,300 Ontario Bred Derby for provincial Ontario-bred 3-year-old Quarter Horses.

One Kool Dynasty is a half-sister to 2010 Horse of the Year One Kool Wave, one of Canada's all-time top Quarter Horses, and she is doing big brother proud in 2020 with three wins in her six races this year including the $54,600 Princess Derby and a Trial victory for Wednesday's Ontario Bred Derby.

Owned by Belinda Taggart of Oakwood, ON, and bred by her son William 'Bill' Taggart, the daughter of FDD Dynasty drew post position 7 in a field of 10 sophomores who qualified for the Derby final from two Trials on August 19.

With regular rider 'Hurricane' Helen Vanek on board, One Kool Dynasty won the first of two Trials Aug. 19 by a comfortable 1-¼ lengths as the 3 to 5 favorite in the 300 yard dash.

The fastest Trial time was posted by Picov Cattle Company's Hanover Hill Chalsee, also a three-time winner this year, who broke sharply and rolled to victory in the second Trial for trainer Rick Kennedy and Ajax Downs' leading rider Ed Walton.

Competition for the two fillies in the Derby will come from a pair of geldings from the barn of owner/trainer Chantelle Bourgeois - the fast improving Hot Like Fyre, second to One Kool Dynasty and Shaken, who closed fast to be second to Hanover Hill Chalsee.

Country Boy 123, the all-time leading Canadian-based Quarter Horse who is arguably in the best form of his career, highlights a field of five in the second leg of the $21,500 Distance Series at 400 yards. going as race 6.

Fresh off two consecutive wins since returning to Ajax Downs following a victory in the $59,600 (US) Bradford Stakes at Indiana Downs, Country Boy 123 comes into Wednesday's race with 25 career wins from 39 races. Owned and trained by Ruth Barbour of Hillsburgh, the 7-year-old drew post 1 and will be ridden by Ed Walton.
