Fastest Qualifier Painted Eclispe Draws Rail Post for $311,896 West Texas Futurity

SUNLAND PARK, NM–APRIL 1, 2024–Painted Eclispe, a son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon and the fastest qualifier, drew the rail post for Saturday's 300-yard, $311,896 West Texas Futurity (G2) at Sunland Park.

A $32,000 purchase at last year's Heritage Place Futurity in Oklahoma City, Painted Eclispe is trained by Xavier Rodriguez for owners Shaun Hubbard, La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC, and Ray Willis. The colt made his debut with a three-quarter length win in the last of a dozen West Texas Futurity trials on March 17.

Painted Eclispe will be ridden by Luis Martinez, who qualified two other finalists, including second-fastest qualifier FDD Dreams. Trained by Xavier Rodriguez for owner La Feliz Montana Ranch, FDD Dreams is a homebred FDD Dynasty colt, and he made his career debut with a half-length victory in the ninth West Texas Futurity trial.

FDD Dreams drew post 9 and will be ridden by Esgar Ramirez.

Also on Saturday, Cornerstone Stables' Love To Fly is the 4-1 morning-line favorite for the 300-yard, $50,000 West Texas Juvenile Stakes.

A $38,000 buy at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale, Love To Fly is coming off of a one-length victory in the first West Texas Futurity trial. Robi Meche trains the sorrel daughter of Furyofthewind.

Love To Fly drew post 5 and will be ridden by Federico Martinez.
