LOS ALAMITOS, CA–APRIL 11, 2024CD Horses Inc’s Angel Soul, a finalist to the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby and third-place finisher in the $50,000 Los Alamitos Juvenile Invitational, will headline the running of the $12,900 allowance feature for sophomore fillies here on Sunday night.

A daughter of the Jaime Gomez-owned Docs Best Card, Angel Soul has been a tremendous bargain for the Nogales, Arizona-based CD Horses. The California-bred filly was purchased for only $13,000 at the 2022 Los Alamitos Equine Sale.

Since then, Angel Soul has proven to be a top-level runner and has already earned $21,228 from five starts. With a good record that also includes second-place finishes in her trials to the (G1)  Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity and Winter Derby and her potential value as a broodmare, Angel Soul is just the latest top runner for CD Horses.

Starting with family patriarch, Cesar Dabdoub, CD Horses Inc.’s involvement in Quarter Horse racing has been filled with top runners. Dabdoub’s Ali Babe Foose is at the forefront of the family’s fine list of runners.

He finished second to the champion filly Flash And Roll in the 2018 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity while running in eight graded stakes races during a career in which he earned over $484,000. He was named the 2018 PCQHRA champion 2-year-old colt.

The Dabdoub’s runners have also included Eyesa Famous Eagle, the winner of the Adequan Los Alamitos Derby Challenge here, and the Arizona stakes winner Rocky Juana.

Angel Soul now proudly represents the Nogales racing operation, while looking for her second career victory in this 300-yard dash. Jaime Gomez trains the brown filly, who has hit the board in four out of her first five outings.

The field will also feature the Ed Allred-owned trio of Delightful Again, More Than Heart and Around Town, who have shown strong potential at various points of their career.

Lightly raced, More Than Heart broke her maiden by 1 ¼ lengths on January 6, while Delightful Again competed in the Governor’s Cup Futurity last year and was third in an allowance race facing males on February 18.

Around Town won her career debut and exits a tough trial to the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Oaks on March 3.

Gary Laramie’s Interesting Talk, who broke her maiden with a head victory on March 10, and Paul Blanchard’s Kartella, who has hit the board in four of her six outings under the Gomez training, will complete the field.
