Siblings To World Champions In Action On Sunday Night

LOS ALAMITOS, CA–APRIL 12, 2024–A talented group of juveniles headed by a pair of siblings to AQHA World Champions Empressum and Danjer will make their respective racing debuts in what should be a showdown of speed in the seventh race on Sunday at Los Alamitos.

These youngsters will be led by Jeff Jones and Steve Holt’s royally bred colt Assaultt, a son of Flying Cowboy 123 and out of the tremendous broodmare Crazy Down Corona, a breeding which makes him a half-brother to Empressum and fellow AQHA champion Hes Judgeandjury.

Empressum was named World Champion in 2022 after a campaign highlighted by his victory in the Champion of Champions, while Hes Judgeandjury was the nation’s top 2-year-old colt in 2022 after a season headed by a victory in the All American Futurity.

Assaultt will enter his debut following a sharp 220-yard :12.5 drill on March 9, which earned him the third fastest of 34 works. His workmate was McColee Land & Livestock’s Toxic Details, another sprinter with top shelf breeding as she’s a full sister to the two-time AQHA World Champion Danjer.

Sired by four-time world champion sire FDD Dynasty and out of the $235,000 winner Shez Jess Toxic, Toxic Details worked in :12.7 when earning the 15th fastest of 34 works. Assaultt starts from post four, while Toxic Details races from the outside post five.

Others in action include Apollitical Eclypse, whose dam is Oneapolliticalflight, a winner of nearly $200,000, and Open Book, whose granddam is the graded stakes placed Just Think, who earned over $126,000 in her brilliant career. Apollitical Eclipse’s last gate work was an eyecatcher, as he posted a solid :12.4 clocking when working next to Devils Tower, who had the morning’s top time of :12 flat.

By Favorite Cartel out of the top producer Babe On The Fly, Devils Tower has yet to race but his debut will be a highly anticipated event. The field from the rail out is as follows: Apollitical Joy, Apollitical Eclypse, Deluxe Cartel, Assaultt and Toxic Details.

The nine-race program will also feature a $13,300 allowance test for 3-year-olds and upwards starring two-time graded stakes finalist Kevins Wise Corona. The Paul Jones trainee ran third in last year’s Ed Burke Million and enters this event after running second to SC Time To Run in a trial to the El Primero. Wild West Futurity runner-up ME Ettago Relent will also be in action in this 300-yard dash. Four others will race.
