Fifty-Eight To Race In Trials To The Grade 2 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity

LOS ALAMITOS, CA–APRIL 19, 2024–Los Alamitos will host its first set of futurity trials of the season on Sunday night when 58 juveniles compete for spot in the Grade 2, $256,200 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity.

The runners with the 10 fastest clocking's at 300 yards will advance to the Kindergarten final to be held on Sunday, May 12.

With a historic amount of rain during this past winter season in Southern California, this year’s trials will offer an interesting new dynamic. For the first time in decades, many of the top contenders in the trials will enter the evening having posted three gate works as opposed to having previously made a start.

Of the 58 runners that will compete in the trials, 26 will enter with racing experience at the 220-yard distance. Of the 32 first-time starters in the trials, 23 will come with three official gate works listed on their page. First post for the 10-race program is 6:20 p.m. with the trials slated as raced three through 10 on the card.

The opening trial will be headed by J Lazy Six Racing’ Koli, a filly by Apollitical Jess who posted the second fastest of 54 drills on March 29. She’ll take on a field that includes Bottle It Up, who ran second to Ed Allred’s Closer Still in a 220-yard race on April 6.

Jackpot Farms’ Elizabeth Alexandria, who won her debut by a neck on April 6, will headline the second trial. She’ll face Keith Nellesen’s Set The Edge, who ran second to Bobby Cox’s Gynysys in the meet’s fastest race for 2-year-olds contested so far this season.

Trainer Jaime Gomez, who has won a record eight Kindergarten, will send out Dutch Masters III’s Play Misty in this race. Gomez considers the filly by Jess Good Candy his top prospect in the Kindergarten trials.

Grant Cox Revocable Trust’s Gold N Ticket, a full sister to 2020 Golden State Million Futurity winner Apollitical Gold, will headline race five, which is the third trial of the night.

The Heath Taylor-trainee Gynysys, whose winning time of :12.05 at 220 yards has been the standard for this season, heads the fourth trial, while maiden winners Closer Still, Larry and Bobbie Rice’s Yell Fire Again, and James Sills and Abel Flores’ Freight Lyner will head the fifth trial.

In race eight, which is the sixth trial, Ray and Jeralyn Messenger’s Go Tell Carter and Alejandra Rodriguez and Eddie Sanchez’s Seperate Impact, runner-ups in their debuts head the field.

Nellesen’s Zoomin On Home, a full brother to Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity winner Political Rivalry, will make his racing debut in trial number seven, which is race number nine. Zoomin On Home is among the standouts with three gate works to his name.

In the 10th race, which is the eighth and final trial, Bull Market, My Budd, and Hey Wauss will face off while making their respective debuts. All three of them sizzled in their most recent gate works on March 29, which was their third gate work of the season.
