Two Stakes, QHRAI Derby Trials Headline Horseshoe Indianapolis' First All-Quarter Horse Program

–Two stakes and one set of trials top the first all-Quarter Horse program of the season Saturday at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Post time for Saturday's first race is set for 10:45 p.m. (EDT).

Ten Indiana-bred 3-year-olds are entered back in Saturday's 350-yard, $99,200 Harley Greene Derby (R).

Pattie Marshall's Red Headed Beach, a multiple stakes winning daughter of the Corona Cartel stallion Escondido Beach trained by Tim Eggleston, is the early favorite. The filly brings in a seven-race winning streak that includes three stakes wins, topped by the 350-yard, $205,000 Miss Roxie Little Futurity (R) in her final 2-year-old start on October 28.

Red Headed Beach is the second-fastest qualifier from three trials run on May 16. The filly drew post 6 and will be ridden by Rolando Pina.

Fastest qualifier Nachor Secret is a son of Habits Secret owned and trained by Ricardo Martinez. The gray colt made his season debut with a 1 1/4-length victory in the first trial.

Nachor Secret drew post 8 and will be ridden by Martin Munoz.

Also on Saturday, a field of nine state-bred sprinters will face the Horseshoe Indianapolis starter in the 400-yard, $84,000 Born Runner Classic Stakes (R).

Duke Racing's Tachas Secret returns to Indiana off of her off-the-board effort in the April 29, $75,000 Easy Date Stakes (G2) for distaffers at Remington Park. A 4-year-old Habits Secret mare trained by Ricardo Martinez, Tachas Secret has won six of 12 races at Horseshoe Indianapolis, including last year's 400-yard, $133,000 Blue River Derby (R).

Tachas Secret drew post 2 and will be ridden by Fernando Morin.

Saturday's 400-yard Horseshoe Indianapolis QHRAI Derby trials have attracted 41 3-year-olds, all of whom will be competing for a spot in the June 20, $75,000-added final.

Lisa Cunningham's Relentlessly Special, a multiple stakes-winning son of Hes Relentless trained by Tony Cunningham, made his season debut with a half-length win in a 250-yard, $30,000 allowance dash at the Sandy Ridge at The Red Mile meet in Lexington, Kentucky, on March 19. A $57,000 purchase at the 2022 Heritage Place Yearling Sale, the sorrel gelding has won three of six races at Horseshoe Indianapolis, including last year's 300-yard, $148,000 Heartland Futurity, and 350-yard, $157,000 Governor's Stakes.

Relentlessly Special drew the rail post and will be ridden by Luz D. Martinez in the first of five trials.
