OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–MAY 30, 2024–Seven American Quarter Horse stakes -- led by Oklahoma’s richest horse race -- top Saturday’s 12-race closing-night card at Remington Park.

Post time for the first race is set for 5 p.m. (CDT).

Ten 2-year-olds are entered back in Saturday’s 350-yard, $1,081,820 Heritage Place Futurity (G1). Mario Lozano-Cantu’s Kempton, made the 5-2 morning-line favorite by track linemaker Jerry Shottenkirk, drew post 10 and will be ridden by James Flores for trainer James J. Gonzales III. The fastest overall qualifier from 24 trials run May 9-10, Kempton has earned $14,622 from two races, and the son of Kiss My Hocks' two wins include a clear two-length victory in his trial.

Other contenders include Joose Boxx, a graded stakes winning Kiss My Hocks gelding trained by Juan Diaz Jr. for owner Javier De Los Santos Muzquiz. The ninth-fastest overall qualifier, Joose Boxx has banked $209,684 from three races, and his two wins include a three-quarter length score in the 300-yard, $502,000 Oklahoma Futurity (G2) on March 23.

A son of Moonin The Eagle trained by Heath Taylor for owner Valeriano Racing Stables, Flash Bak made his 6-year-old season debut with a half-length victory in the January 7, 440-yard Championship at Sunland Park (G1) in New Mexico, and he will be making his first start since then. The sorrel gelding ran eighth, four lengths behind winner and eventual 2023 world champion Danjer, in last year’s Remington Park Championship, but he ended his campaign with a three-quarter length win in the sport’s richest race for aged runners, the December 9, $750,0000 Champion of Champions (G1) at Los Alamitos.

Flash Bak drew post 5 and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon.

Trainer Toby Keeton will send out Jess Good Wine, a 4-year-old Good Reason SA gelding owned by Guns Up Racing. Jess Good Wine has won his last three outs, all against stakes company, and he will be stretching out in distance off of his head victory in the 400-yard, $100,000 Sooner State Stakes (RG1) for Oklahoma-breds on April 29.

Two other Grade 1 stakes -- the 400-yard, $100,000 Junos Request Stakes (G1) for distaffers, and the 870-yard, $50,000 Remington Park Distance Championship (G1) -- will be contested on Saturday.

Double G Ranch’s Relentless Diamond brings a three-race win streak into the Junos Request that includes a half-length victory in the 350-yard, $75,000 Easy Date Stakes (G2) on April 29. Guillermo Valdivia trains the 4-year-old Hes Relentless mare.

Relentless Diamond drew post 3 and will be ridden by James Flores.

Saturday’s Remington Park Distance Championship drew a field of seven, led by multiple graded stakes winner and early favorite O Donovan Rossa. A homebred 6-year-old son of Apollitical Jess trained by Dee Keener for owner Kelly Yother Equine, the chestnut gelding has won both of his 870 starts at the current Remington meet, including the May 4, $50,000 Pauls Valley Stakes (G2).

Dunn Ranch’s SC Time To Run heads a field of 10 3-year-olds entered back in Saturday’s 400-yard, $239,050 Heritage Place Derby (G2).

A sorrel son of Apollitical Jess trained by Jed Vane and a $335,000 purchase at the 2022 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, SC Time To Run is winless in three starts at Remington Park. However, the gelding earlier this season put together a three-race win streak that included a neck victory in the 400-yard, $204,000 El Primero del Ano Derby (G3) for colts and geldings at Los Alamitos on March 24.

Saturday’s 400-yard, $296,940 Heritage Place Oaks (G2) has drawn a full field of 10 sophomore fillies, led by Alliekat Dynasty.

A sorrel daughter of champion FDD Dynasty trained by Jesus Ruben Ruiz for owner Arrowhead Racing, Alliekat Dynasty has banked $69,885 from four races at Remington Park this spring, and her three wins include a neck victory against older distaffers in the March 16, 350-yard Decketta Stakes (G2).

Also on Saturday, Reliance Ranches’ Miss Perrys Cowgirl drew post 10 for the 350-yard, $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile Stakes for 2-year-olds.

A $150,000 buy at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale, Miss Perrys Cowgirl has earned $43,897 from three outs, and her record includes a fifth-place finish, 1 1/4 lengths behind winner Joose Boxx, in the March 23, $502,000 Oklahoma Futurity (G2). Cody Noel trains the Flying Cowboy 123 filly.

Miss Perrys Cowgirl will be ridden by Mario Delgado.
