State-Bred Stakes Doubleheader Set for Thursday at Retama Park

SELMA, TX–JUNE 23, 2024–Tempting Alibi, a stakes-winning son of champion Tempting Dash racing for Cruz E. Nava, is one of eight Texas-bred sophomores entered in Thursday's 330-yard, $40,000 Silver Bullet Stakes (R) at Retama Park.

Tempting Alibi is shortening in distance off of his neck victory in the May 10, 350-yard Leon Bard Memorial Stakes (R) at Sam Houston Race Park. The gelding drew post 7 and will be ridden by Luis Vivanco for trainer Jose Sanchez.

Other contenders include Leslie Martinez-Castanon's LGM Flirting Hero, a stakes-placed son of the Dean Miracle stallion Flirtingwithamiracle trained by Mauricio Garcia. LGM Flirting Hero will be making his first career start at Retama Park off of his second-place finish, a half of a length behind winner B Second Cowboy, in the 350-yard, $110,000 Old South Derby at Delta Downs on May 17.

LGM Flirting Hero drew post 5 and will be ridden by Nestor Duran.

Also on Thursday, 10 state-bred 3-year-old fillies will match strides in the 330-yard, $40,000 La Villita Stakes (R).

Pete A. Scarmardo's Ladys Gotta Jet is coming off of a neck victory in the May 10, 350-yard John Buchanan Memorial Stakes (R) at Sam Houston Race Park. John Stinebaugh trains the homebred daughter of the The Louisiana Cartel stallion EC Jet One.

Ladys Gotta Jet drew post 8 and will be ridden by Oscar Andrade Jr.
