B Second Cowboy Draws Post 3 for Grade 3, $145,205 Firecracker Derby

VINTON, LA–JULY 1, 2024–Party Tyme Racing's B Second Cowboy, a stakes winner during the meet, heads a field of 10 sophomores entered back in Friday's 350-yard, $145,205 Firecracker Derby (G3) at Delta Downs.

Trained by Jose R. Espinosa, B Second Cowboy has won two of his three outs during the Delta Downs meet, including the 330-yard, $110,000 Old South Derby on a muddy and sealed track on May 17. The homebred Flying Cowboy 123 gelding drew post 3 and will be ridden by Sabino Reyes.

Other contenders include Gotagogh, the fastest qualifier from three trials run June 14, and graded stakes winner Motion Of Grace. Trained by Juan Diaz Jr. for owner Triple Five Racing, Gotagogh is coming off of a one-length win in the first Firecracker Derby trial. The Favorite Cartel colt ran second, a neck behind winner Tempting Alibi, in the May 10, 350-yard Leon Bard Memorial Stakes (R) for Texas-breds at Sam Houston Race Park, and he was a finalist in Texas' richest horse race, last year's 400-yard, $1.176-million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park.

Gotagogh drew post 2 and will be ridden by Jorge J. Garcia.

Motion Of Grace has won all three of her outs at Delta Downs, including last year's 350-yard, $262,000 Firecracker Futurity (G2). Juan Diaz Jr. trains the gray daughter of champion Hes Relentless for owner Francisco Javier Garza.

Motion Of Grace drew post 10 and will be ridden by Martin Osuna.
