SHELBYVILLE, IN–AUGUST 28, 2024–Three official American Quarter Horse stakes -- led by the 350-yard, $212,170 QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Futurity (RG3) -- top Saturday's 12-race all-Quarter Horse program at Horseshoe Indianapolis.
Whiting Ranch's Killin Time, a homebred daughter of Lota PYC and the fastest qualifier, drew post three and will be ridden by Salvador Martinez for trainer Ricardo Martinez. Killin Time broke her maiden with a head victory in the last of eight trials on August 10.
Trainer Tim Eggleston will send out two finalists, including Robert A. Ray's HF Just Reno. A stakes-placed son of Jess Zoomin and a $7,500 purchase at last year's QHRAI Speed Sale, HF Just Reno has earned $53,890 from five starts, and his season record includes a second-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Zoomin Feature, $194,000 Gordon Mobley Futurity (R) on July 20.
HF Just Reno drew post four and will be ridden by Rolando Pina.
Also, on Saturday, ten sophomores are entered back in the 400-yard, $115,213 QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Derby (R).
Campos Family Ventures' Tres Of Blood has won four of his last five outs, including the 400-yard, $126,000 Horseshoe Indianapolis QHRAI Derby on June 20. The gelded son of champion Apollitical Blood is the third-fastest qualifier from four trials run on August 10.
Tres Of Blood drew post four and will be ridden by Edgar Diaz for trainer Claudio Barraza.
Alberto Valadez's Mr Michel leads a group of 11 Indiana-breds entered in Saturday's 400-yard, $83,700 Bob Woodward Memorial Classic Stakes (R).
A 5-year-old Kiss My Hocks gelding trained by Alberto Valadez, Mr Michel has won all three of his races at Horseshoe Indianapolis this season, and his two stakes wins include a three-quarter length victory in the 400-yard, $50,000 Bradford Stakes on July 3.
Mr Michel drew post seven and will be ridden by Edgar Diaz.
