ALTOONA, IA–SEPTEMBER 6, 2024–Fifty 2-year-olds -- led by stakes winners CT Walking Thru and Relentless Rocket -- are entered in Sunday's 350-yard Valley Junction Futurity (G3) trials at Prairie Meadows.
A $58,000 purchase at last year's Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, CT Walking Thru is a daughter of Favorite Cartel trained by Alex Wessels for owner Paul Tonderum. The filly has earned $102,264 from just three races, and her two wins include a neck victory in the 350-yard, $213,000 Prairie Meadows Gold Futurity on July 6.
CT Walking Thru drew post 7 and will be ridden by Berkley Packer in the fifth of six trials. The filly's seven opponents in the fifth heat include Relentless Rocket, a homebred son of champion Hes Relentless owned by Tom Maher. Relentless Rocket is coming off of a clear 1 3/4-length win in the August 15, $80,000 Northlands Futurity at Canterbury Park.
Relentless Rocket drew post 8 and will be ridden by Ramiro Garcia for trainer Jason Olmstead.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the September 27, $250,000-est. Valley Junction Futurity final.
