ALBUQUERQUE, NM–SEPTEMBER 18, 2024–Miss Hi Tide, a Grade 1-placed daughter of Woodbridge racing for Uno Menos, heads a list of 43 stated 3-year-old Quarter Horses entered in Saturday’s 400-yard New Mexico State Fair Derby (RG3) trials at Albuquerque Downs.
The 10 fastest qualifiers from the five 400-yard heats will meet in the $250,000-added final on October 13.
Miss Hi Tide will be shortening in distance off of her second-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Especially Goodcandy, in the 440-yard, $662,000 All American Oaks (G1) at Albuquerque Downs on September 2.
An $80,000 purchase at the 2022 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, the filly has earned $195,706 from four starts this year, and her record includes a one-length victory in the June 15, $175,000 Mountain Top Derby (R) at Ruidoso Downs.
Miss Hi Tide drew post 7 and will be ridden by Adrian Ramos for trainer Wes Giles in the second trial.
Other prominent sophomores entered in Saturday’s trials include Solid, a graded stakes winning homebred son of Big Daddy Cartel owned by Pierre and Leslie Amestoy. Solid is coming off a half-length win in the July 27, $167,000 Zia Derby (RG2) at Albuquerque Downs.
Solid drew post 9 and will be ridden by Adrian Ramos for trainer Wes Giles in the fifth heat.
