LOS ALAMITOS, CA–OCTOBER 11, 2024–Pedro Barbizan Santiago Leite’s Miss Isao Jqm, who in 2022 became the first Quarter Horse in Brazil to win the GP São Paulo, GP Brasil and GP Consecration since 2014, will make her second start at Los Alamitos when she heads the $13,600 allowance feature on Sunday night.
The mare by Mr Jess Perry became only 10th sprinter to win the three Brazilian classics held at the Jockey Club of Sorocaba and did so while winning her first 10 career starts.
Arriving in the United States after the 2023 Brazilian breeding season, Miss Isao Jqm posted a solid second-place finish in her California debut. Trained by James Glenn, Jr. and ridden by Henry Reynoso Lopez, the Brazilian homebred ran an excellent second in the multiple stakes-winning colt Hes Chickless.
For this start, Miss Isao Jqm will face a group of mares at 350 yards and none have accomplished as much as the graded stakes winner Hes Chickless.
In addition to her trio of classic wins, Miss Isao Jqm also won the prestigious Brazilian Futurity and the Mega Race. Her 2022 campaign is among the greatest in her country’s history. Now in the United States, Miss Isao Jqm will look to bolster her incredible record while racing at Los Alamitos and as a broodmare prospect, the best is yet to come with this Samba star.
