LOS ALAMITOS, CA–DECEMBER 31, 2024–Gentry Farms’ Beach Walk and M & G Farms’ Terra Fina could be headed for great sophomore seasons in 2025 if the tremendous potential they showed during their respective juvenile campaigns is any indication.
The two fillies will now look to get their new year started the right way when they head a strong group of young runners in the featured seventh race – a $12,000 allowance event for fillies at 300 yards - on Saturday at Los Alamitos.
Trained by Juan Aleman, Beach Walk posted several outstanding efforts in top-level races last year, including a victory in her trial to the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity and a second-place finish in her heat to the Grade 1 Golden State Million Futurity.
Her breeding is tremendous as well, as she’s the daughter of top stallion Freighttrain B and out of the outstanding Gentry Farm-owned broodmare Heartbeat.
Trained by Valentin Zamudio, Terra Fina made six starts in 2024 and finished third or better in every one of them. Terra Fina’s record includes a pair of victories last year plus several notable high-end finishes in trials to four major futurities.
She was third to Jess Send Kevin in their trials to the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity and third behind Curl Happy Wagon and Devils Tower in their trial to the Grade 1 Golden State Million Futurity. The filly by One Famous Eagle also posted strong third-place efforts in her (G1) Ed Burke Million Futurity trial and (G2) PCQHRA Breeders Futurity trial.
Beach Walk and Terra Fina are both eligible to race in the trials to the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Oaks. This field will also feature multiple winners: See It Clearly, Run Thru The Nite, Really Classic, and Freedom Fyrst.
