Ten Louisiana-Bred Distaffers Entered in Billy Montgomery Stakes
Multiple stakes winner Jes Winnin Cartel will head a full field of state-bred fillies and mares in the $30,000 Billy Montgomery Stakes (R) at Louisiana Downs on Saturday.

Ten Louisiana-Bred Distaffers Entered in Billy Montgomery Stakes

BOSSIER CITY, LA–FEBRUARY 11, 2025-–Ten state-bred fillies and mares, led by morning-line favorite Jes Winnin Cartel, are entered in Saturday's 330-yard, $30,000 Billy Montgomery Stakes (R) at Louisiana Downs.

A 5-year-old daughter of Five Bar Cartel owned by San Juana Montano, Jes Winnin Cartel is coming off of a 2024 season during which she won two stakes, including the August 17, 350-yard Audubon Stakes (R) for state-bred distaffers at Fair Grounds Racecourse in New Orleans. Noe Rolando Sanchez III trains the brown mare.

Jes Winnin Cartel drew post 5 and will be ridden by Arturo Alvarez. The mare's nine opponents include John T. Sargent's Patty Wagon Train, a 5-year-old BP Wagon Train mare trained by Orlando Orozco. Patty Wagon Train has won two races at this 330-yard distance, including last year's $40,000 French Quarter Stakes (R) at Fair Grounds.

Patty Wagon Train drew post 7 and will be ridden by Ubaldo Luna.
