Louisiana Downs Futurity Trials Set for Thursday, Friday

BOSSIER CITY, LA–MARCH 4, 2025–
A total of 102 juveniles, led by recent training race winner JC Corona Connection, are entered in this week's Louisiana Downs Futurity (G2) trials at Louisiana Downs.

Fourteen 300-yard heats are scheduled, seven on Thursday and seven on Friday. First post time each day is set for 1:05 p.m. (CDT).

JC Corona Connection prepped for his first pari-mutuel start with a neck victory in a 220-yard schooling race on February 4, covering the distance in :12.245 under jockey Arturo Alvarez. Saul Ramirez trains the Ivory James colt for owner Jose Armando Ramos.

JC Corona Connection was a $15,000 purchase at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. The Louisiana-bred colt drew post 2 and will be ridden by Claudio Aguilar in Friday's first trial.

Thursday's seven heats are headed by Litenin, a son of the Truley First Class stallion Class King racing for Rene Roman and a $17,000 buy at last year's TQHA Yearling Sale in San Antonio. Litenin prepped for his official debut with a clear two-length victory in his February 4 training race, as the brown colt went 220 yards in :12.430. Juan F. Garcia Jr. rode Litenin for trainer Janessa Muniz.

Litenin drew post 5 and will be ridden by Juan Garcia in Thursday's fourth trial.

Trainer Jorge Valenzuela will send out Mako Shark Watters for owner Sunset Well Service Inc. in Thursday's fifth heat. A homebred son of the Corona Cartel stallion Muddy Watters, the gray colt covered 220 yards in :12.431 while winning his schooling race by three-quarters of a length under jockey Raul Hernandez.

Mako Shark Watters drew post 8 and will be ridden by Raul Hernandez.

The five fastest qualifiers from each day of trials will meet in the March 29, $350,000-est. Louisiana Downs Futurity final.
