OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–MARCH 6, 2025–Beltane and Cyber Star, a pair of homebred 2-year-olds trained by Dee Keener for owner Kelly Yother Equine of Culver City, California, will make their official career debuts in this weekend's 300-yard Oklahoma Futurity (G2) at Remington Park.
A total of 117 juveniles are entered in 16 heats to be contested, eight on Friday and eight on Saturday. The five fastest qualifiers from each night of trials will meet in the March 22, $500,000-est. Oklahoma Futurity final.
Beltane and Cyber Star are both coming off of noteworthy wins in recent training races. A daughter of freshman sire Cyber Monday, Beltane posted the fastest winning time from the schooling races of February 25, as the Oklahoma-bred filly went 250 yards in :13.599 against a reported 13-mph head wind.
Beltane drew post 6 and will be ridden by Jesus Ayala in Saturday's eighth trial.
Cyber Star prepped for her debut with the fastest schooling race winning time on February 17. Racing against a reported 9-mph head wind, the Cyber Monday filly stopped the timer in :13.746.
Cyber Star drew post 5 and will be ridden by Roman Cruz in Friday's sixth heat.
Other prominent 2-year-olds entered in the Oklahoma Futurity trials include Lareda and Ruse Ticle Knockout. A $300,000 purchase by owners Gene Bradley and Tod Bradley at last year's Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, Lareda is a daughter of Flying Cowboy 123 out of the winningFirst Down Dash mare Miss Kates Angel. Trey Wood trains the sorrel filly.
Lareda drew post 4 and will be ridden by Ricky Ramirez in Saturday's sixth trial.
Ruse Ticle Knockout was a $210,000 buy at last year's Texas QHA Yearling Sale in San Antonio. A daughter of world champion Apollitical Jess out of the graded stakes winning Tres Seis mare Adolph Tres Knockout, the filly is trained by Luis Villafranco for owner Mi Serenity.
Ruse Ticle Knockout drew post 7 and will be ridden by Edwin Escobedo in Friday's eighth heat.
