Ocho Rojo Tabbed As Morning-Line Favorite For Oklahoma Futurity

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–MARCH 19, 2025–The longest-running futurity in the sport of American Quarter Horse racing renews Saturday evening at Remington Park. The 84th edition of the race, first run in 1947, is the headliner on March 22.

Ocho Rojo has been made the 3-1 morning-line favorite in the field of 10 qualifiers who competed in trials on March 7 & 8 at the 300-yard distance. The top qualifier from the March 7 trial heats, Ocho Rojo defeated First Cash Boy in his trial by a head. First Cash Boy is the second morning-line favorite at 7-2 odds.

The March 7 trials were conducted over a fast track while the March 8 trials were conducted in steady rain over a sloppy surface. The fastest five from each evening of eight trials advanced to the Grade 2, $419,735 final.

Only two of the qualifiers failed to win their trial, First Cash Boy and Gracefulchik who was second to the fastest qualifier from March 8, Flying Joy 1, beaten only a head.

The Oklahoma Futurity is the 11th and final race on Saturday night with a scheduled post time of 10:30pm. The first race of the night is at 6pm.

Remington Park racing continues Thursday through Sunday, March 20-23. Saturday, Racing begins nightly at 6pm with Sunday afternoon racing at 4pm. All times are Central.
