Seven Distance Specialists Entered in Lip Chip LLC Stakes

BOSSIER CITY, LA--MARCH 23, 2025--Seven distance specialists, led by early favorite Explosive Legend, are entered in Thursday's 870-yard, $30,000 Lip Chip LLC Stakes at Louisiana Downs.

A 4-year-old son of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Mr. Piloto owned and trained by David Bustamante, Explosive Legend is coming off of a 1 1/2-length victory in his first lifetime 870 start, a $14,000 open-condition allowance race at Louisiana Downs on January 31. The gelding drew post 5 and will be ridden by Donell Blake.

Other contenders include Power Of The Smile, a homebred son of Power Jam (TB) trained by Kenneth Weeks for owner Jumonville Farms. The gray 4-year-old stallion has won three of his six outs at the 870-yard distance, including a $15,000 open-condition allowance race at Evangeline Downs on November 23.

Power Of The Smile drew post 2 and will be ridden by Ubaldo Luna.
