POCATELLO, ID—MAY 4, 202—Pocatello Downs has two stakes slated for Sunday’s racing card, including the Idaho Bred Quarter Horse Stakes and Pocatello Downs Stakes, both of which are non black type races.
The first of the two stakes races is the 400-yard Idaho Bred Quarter Horse Stake, which is race 8. Coming off a third-place finish from his last out at Los Alamitos in the Blane Schvaneveldt Handicap Stakes, Jess Yaya is the morning line favorite on 8-5 odds.
The son of Jess Got Easier, owned by Nadine Newbold and trained by David Newbold, drew post position four and will be ridden by Nick Newbold. The two-time winner has $40,150 in lifetime earnings.
Rtm Ginsburg has drawn the inside post and is positioned as a potential upset against Jess Yaya. The son of First Moonflash is owned by RTM Stables and trained by Mark Hanson. He will be ridden by leading jockey Jesus Canales.
The second stakes of the day, the Pocatello Downs Stakes, will be the final race on Sunday’s card, featuring a field of ten horses competing over a distance of 400 yards. The morning line favorite with 7-2 early odds is Dc Ladys Dashn Eagle, a gelding sired by One Dashing Eagle.
Dc Ladys Dashn Eagle aims to start the year with a win, just as he ended the previous year. Hector Magallanes trains the five-time winner for owner Donald Conway and has earned $58,207 from 16 starts. He will be ridden by Santiago Jimenez, starting from post position one.
Coronas With One S will be making his first season start from post position seven in the Pocatello Downs stakes. The two-time winning son of Kvn Corona is owned by Michael K. McKell and trained by Sergio Canales and will be ridden by Jose J. Olivo.
