GILLETTE, WY—MAY 24, 2025—A competitive field of short-distance specialists is set to line up for Monday’s $16,000 Bulldogger Overnight Stakes at Energy Downs, where a field of veteran sprinters will clash over a sharp 110 yards in Race 5.

The event, open to Quarter Horses aged three and older, has drawn a deep group led by a trio of seasoned standouts, headlined by last year's Bulldogger Overnight Stakes winner Ud Goldenboy, as well as Ivorybudsnblossoms, and Chavez Legacy.

Morning-line favorite Ud Goldenboy (7-2) returns to the same strip where he etched his name in the record books. The 10-year-old gelding, owned and bred by Uriel Dominguez Lucero, set the Energy Downs track record for 110 yards in 2022 with a time of :06.70.

Trained by Calli VanTassell Dominguez and set to be ridden by Brayan Juarez, Ud Goldenboy boasts an impressive resume of 18 wins from 43 starts and over $112,000 in career earnings.

The son of Jr Dynasty Mountain, out of Bvlgari B by Tac It Like A Man, last win was a narrow victory in the $23,000 Bulldogger Stakes in June 2024—demonstrating his enduring speed and class.

Poised to challenge is Ivorybudsnblossoms, a talented and lightly raced 4-year-old gelding trained by Josh Taylor for owner Eugene T. Joyce. The son of Ivory James, out of One Famous Blossom by One Famous Eagle, was bred in Wyoming by Brooke Black.

Ivorybudsnblossoms has finished in the money in nine of ten lifetime starts, compiling a record of three wins, five seconds, and a third, with earnings topping $100,000.

He enters off a series of high-class stakes efforts at Sweetwater and Wyoming Downs, and will be ridden by top pilot Luis A. Valenzuela, who has been winning at a red-hot 44% rate in 2025.

Another major player is Chavez Legacy, listed at 5-1 on the morning line. Bred in California by Steve D. Burns DVM, the 6-year-old gelding is owned by Jose Castaneda and trained by Jose Chavez.

A son of multiple stakes sire Seperate Interest out of Pq Radiance by First Down Dash, Chavez Legacy has shown flashes of brilliance, including a front-running allowance win at Arapahoe last fall.

With over $34,000 in career earnings and a solid foundation of 18 career starts, he reunites with jockey Valente Vorrath in search of a stakes breakthrough.

Monday’s dash promises to be a fast and furious affair, with razor-thin margins likely to decide the outcome. With a field rich in early speed and back-class performers, all eyes will be on the break as the Bulldogger Overnight Stakes offers a high-octane showcase for some of the region’s top short-distance Quarter Horses.
