VINTON, LA—JUNE 17, 2025—Delta Downs will present three trials Wednesday night for the $75,000-added Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Oaks, featuring accredited Louisiana-bred Quarter Horse fillies foaled in 2022.

The trials will be contested over 400 yards, with the top ten fastest qualifiers advancing to the final, which will be held on Friday, July 12.

First post time is set for 6:15 p.m. CDT, with the third race (trial 1) slated for a 7:07 p.m. approximate post.

Headlining the third race is the highly accomplished San Lorenzo Princess, installed as the 7-5 morning-line favorite. The daughter of champion sire Apollitical Blood is owned by Rogelio Marquez Jr., trained by Jeremy Derozin, and will be ridden by Luis L. Vivanco.

Bred by Darrell Williams, San Lorenzo Princess has won four of seven starts and banked more than $110,000. She is coming off a game win on May 15 at Delta Downs, where she surged late to capture a 400-yard allowance with a 94 Speed Index. Last year, she won the LQHBA Sale Debutante Stakes and was runner-up in the Lassie Futurity (RG2).

She has banked $110,392 with four wins in seven career starts.

Another prominent contender in Race 3 is Golden Answerr, the 7-2 second choice. Owned by BM AQ Racing LLC, trained by Paul Leal, and to be ridden by Yaidel Rodriguez, this filly is by second-crop sire Gold Heart Eagle V out of Answer Me Big Daddy by Big Daddy Cartel. Brent Cody Leblanc bred her.

Golden Answerr posted two trial wins as a juvenile. She finished a close third in the 2024 Lassie Futurity(RG2) final behind San Lorenzo Princess and returned this season with a runner-up finish in a 400-yard Mardi Gras Derby trial.

In Race 4, San Lorenzo Jezz will break as the 2-1 favorite for owner-breeder Rogelio Marquez Jr. and trainer Jeremy Derozin. The daughter of American Hussle, out of Jezz Chick by Jess Louisiana Blue, will again be piloted by Vivanco. She is a four-time winner from seven starts with earnings of $378,241. San Lorenzo Jezz captured the $654,000 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) last year and most recently won a 350-yard allowance on May 24, dominating the field with a 98 Speed Index.

Also in Race 4, Ruse Gold brings strong credentials as a 7-2 shot. The daughter of Gold Heart Eagle V is owned and bred by Ruse Ranch LLC and trained by Jose Espinosa. She will be ridden by Leonardo Rodriguez.

Ruse Gold won her Mardi Gras Oaks trial earlier this year and finished third in the $100,000 Mardi Gras Oaks final in March. Third in the Lassie Juvenile Stakes last season she has not started since Marcy 28.

The fifth race features San Lorenzo Luna, another filly from the Marquez-Derozin barn, who is pegged at 8-5 on the morning line. By Coronas Leaving You and out of champion Heza Fast Dash mare Dashnunder Afullmoon, the homebred has never missed the board in three starts at Delta Downs.

San Lorenzo Luna comes into the trials off a sharp win on May 23 where she covered 300 yards in 15.379 and earned a career-high 93 Speed Index under jockey Leonardo Rodriguez.

Jess B Sizzlin will also go postward in Race 5 for AGMD Investments LLC and trainer Jose Espinosa. Noe Castaneda will ride the 4-1 second choice. Bred by Kenneth Garcia, the daughter of world champion sire Freighttrain B has one win and two placings in 11 starts, including a fourth-place effort in the $100,000 Mardi Gras Oaks and was a finalist in the LQHBA Sale Futurity(RG1) at 2.

Wednesday's program will determine the field for the July 12 final, where the top Louisiana-bred 3-year-old fillies will compete for added purse money and a chance to enhance their resumes in one of the summer’s premier restricted races at Delta Downs.
