ALTOONA, IA–JULY 6, 2025–A talented field of two-year-olds will line up Sunday evening for the $208,650 Prairie Meadows Gold Futurity at Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino.
The 350-yard dash for juveniles is slated as Race 3 on the card with an approximate post time of 4:50 PM (CDT).
Ima Bigg Flash, listed at 3-1 on the morning line, comes in as the early favorite for trainer John A. Stinebaugh and owner LS Racing, Inc. The Oklahoma-bred gelding by Big Daddy Cartel, out of Flashing My Pjs by First Moonflash, was bred by Flashing My PJs Partnership.
Piloted by jockey Ali Rivera, Ima Bigg Flash brings a sharp record of two wins and a third from three lifetime starts, with earnings of over $108,000. He earned his starting spot with a determined trial score at Prairie Meadows on June 16, edging away late to stop the clock in 18.179.
Earlier this season, he showed his class with a strong third-place finish in the lucrative Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity(RG1) and looks to add another significant paycheck this weekend. He is a $47,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate.
Second choice Blaze Of Gold, at 7-2, will break under jockey Francisco R. Ramirez, Jr. for trainer Jason L. Olmstead and owner-breeder Grant R Cox Revocable Trust.
The Apollitical Jess gelding, out of Src Gold by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, enters off an eye-catching maiden-breaking trial win where he rallied impressively to win by a neck in 18.203. With three starts to his name, Blaze Of Gold has hit the board twice and appears to be improving with each outing.
Trainer Jason Olmstead also sends out Tux Hard Shop, the 9-2 third choice, for owner Champion Hiclass Stables, LLC (Jo Rice). Bred in Oklahoma by Jo Rice, the gelded son of Flying Cowboy 123 out of Rated Hiclass by High Rate Of Return will be ridden by Ramiro H. Garcia.
Tux Hard Shop posted his first victory in his Prairie Meadows trial, digging in gamely late to prevail by a nose. He has one win from three starts and showed marked improvement from his Remington Park efforts earlier this spring.
Sunday’s final promises a competitive showcase of up-and-coming juvenile talent as these promising runners chase their share of the $208,650 purse under the lights at Prairie Meadows.
Ab Boogie Headlines $50,000 Grade 3 Keokuk Stakes
Prairie Meadows will also stage the $50,000 Grade 3 Keokuk Stakes for Quarter Horses on Saturday as Race 2 with an approximate post time of 4:25 PM.
The 350-yard stakes event for three-year-olds and upward has drawn a competitive group of older runners, topped by local standout Ab Boogie.
Installed as the 3-1 morning-line favorite, Ab Boogie will break from post #3 for owner and breeder Ruben Mojica. The four-year-old gelding by champion sire Apollitical Blood, out of Boogie Wagon by Lil Kool Wagon, has banked more than $176,000 from 13 lifetime starts, including five wins and four placings.
Trained by Manuel Mojica Campos and ridden by Alfredo Triana, Jr., Ab Boogie is well-known around the Prairie Meadows oval with multiple local scores, including a decisive win in last season’s Polk County Derby. He comes into the Keokuk off a strong spring at Remington Park, where he was a close second in the Grade 2 Bob Moore Stakes and finished a game fifth in the $250,000 Debbie Schauf Memorial Championship after dueling early.
Joining him as one of the top betting interests is Cowboy 123, listed at 4-1 on the morning line. The four-year-old gelding, bred in Iowa by Paragon Farms LLC, is owned by Stephen Moyle and trained by Alex Wessels.
Cowboy 123, by leading third-crop sire Flying Cowboy 123 out of Corona Carmelita by Corona Cartel, has shown a clear affinity for Prairie Meadows, winning five times with two seconds and two thirds from ten local starts while earning nearly $110,000.
The steady runner enters the Keokuk Stakes off a sharp allowance victory at 330 yards on June 23, where he rallied strongly to get up in the final strides. He will be ridden by Francisco R. Ramirez, Jr.
Another seasoned contender in the lineup is Nothin Like You, the 5-1 third choice on the morning line for owner Bradbury Racing LLC. Trained by John D. Hammes, the six-year-old Favorite Cartel gelding was bred in Colorado by Thomas Bradbury and Lisa Beauprez.
Out of Whos Kissin Carter by Carters Cartel, the multiple graded stakes winner has compiled over $527,000 in earnings, highlighted by 11 wins and seven seconds from 29 starts.
A regular force at Prairie Meadows, he has won nine of 16 starts here and finished a narrow second in the Grade 1 Challenge Championship in Albuquerque last fall. This year he’s kept elite company at Remington, contesting both the Debbie Schauf Memorial Championship and the Leo Stakes. Miguel J. Ramirez is named to ride the veteran, whose proven class and closing finish should make him a late threat.
Fans can watch and wager on the Keokuk Stakes as part of an evening of Quarter Horse racing at Prairie Meadows, with a full wagering menu that includes Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Quinella, Trifecta, Superfecta, and Daily Double.
First post time is set for 4:25 PM CT on Saturday.
