FARGO, ND–JULY 31, 2025–Sunday afternoon promises to deliver high-caliber racing action at North Dakota Horse Park, as the NDQHRA Dash for Cash Stakes and the NDQHRA Futurity Finals take center stage on a competitive nine-race card. First post is set for noon (CDT), and with purses totaling over $32,000, the day will showcase the state’s best Quarter Horses, Paints, and Appaloosas competing at peak form.

The afternoon's fifth race brings together a diverse group of speedsters aged three and up for the NDQHRA Dash for Cash Stakes, a 220-yard sprint with a $10,000-added purse. The field of seven will break from the gates at approximately 2:00 PM, and all eyes will be on the streaking Lil Rider, the 7-5 morning line favorite.

A 4-year-old mare sired by Pyc Fun N Fancy and out of Park Avenue Air by Dashair, Lil Rider is bred, owned, and trained by Ronald W. Addicott. She enters the Dash for Cash in sharp form, winning three straight and compiling a career record of 7 wins from 20 starts, with total earnings of $54,210.

Racing from post four, she will again be partnered with jockey Ricardo Martinez, aiming to extend her win streak and secure bragging rights as the fastest dasher on the grounds.

The feature event of the afternoon is race eight, in which the seven fastest qualifiers from the July 18 trial heats return to compete in the $22,400-added NDQHRA Futurity Finals. These promising juveniles will dash 350 yards, with post time set for approximately 3:30 PM.

Headlining the field is the 7-5 morning line favorite, Prized Five Bar, who delivered a powerful half-length win in the trials to break his maiden impressively. The son of Five Bar Cartel out of Panther Prize by Panther Mountain is bred, owned by Legacy Ranch, and trained by Robert Don Johnson.

With four starts and $4,349 in earnings, Prized Five Bar appears poised to step forward from post two, once again paired with jockey Dakota Wood.

Another major player is Flo Sixes Ridin, who surged late to win his trial by a neck. Sired by Six Figure Sixes and out of Sia Flo Ridin by Paintyourownwagon, the gelding was bred by Michael Groce and races for owner Dean Huschka.

Breaking from the rail in post one, he’ll be ridden by Connie McKenzie, and with a clean trip, could pose a serious upset threat off his strong closing kick.

Looking to turn the tables is Kool Dean, who finished narrowly behind Flo Sixes Ridin in their trial heat. The colt is by Travelin Miracle out of Rockin Charts by Kool Charts, bred by Doug Demontigny and owned and trained by Blaine D. Decoteau.

Breaking from post four, Nathan Haar returns in the saddle, hoping to turn the tables and score his most significant win to date.

With a mixture of juvenile promise and seasoned speed, Sunday’s NDQHRA stakes doubleheader brings regional breeding, training, and ownership into the spotlight. The Dash for Cash offers a test of raw speed over 220 yards, while the Futurity Finals serve as a proving ground for the next generation of North Dakota-bred runners.

The nine-race card, beginning at noon, promises high-quality racing and competitive wagering opportunities — a fitting showcase for the state’s thriving Quarter Horse racing community.
