The weekend's headline event is the (RG2) Subasta Selecta Futurity, bringing together the ten fastest qualifiers from the August 2–3 trials set to race 350 yards for a purse of nearly $400,000.
Rey De Manny, the 2-1 morning line favorite, leads the field as the fastest qualifier. The son of Jesse James Jr, out of Jess Blazin Queen, enters off five consecutive victories, including the Mexico Futurity and Garanones Futurity, the first two legs of Mexico’s Triple Crown. With earnings of $146,511, Rey De Manny looks to add the Subasta Selecta Futurity to his growing résumé. He was bred in Mexico by Abelardo Gallegos Fernandez, purchased for $43,243 at the Subasta Selecta Sale, and is a full brother to 2024 Mexico Futurity winner Kin Krash. Trained by Ashley Cirilo, he will break from post three under Néstor Durán for owners Cuadra San Martín.
His stablemate, Payasa De Manny, posted the second-fastest qualifying time after winning her trial by three lengths. The Krash Cartel filly, out of Coconut Crystal by Separatist, has three wins from six starts with $60,056 in earnings. Also bred by Abelardo Gallego, she runs for Cuadra San Martín under trainer Luis Enrique Cruz, with Eddi Cuéllar aboard from post seven.
With Rey De Manny seeking to complete a sweep of Mexico’s most prestigious juvenile races, and Payasa De Manny looking to spoil the party, the $393,413 Subasta Selecta Futurity promises a spectacular conclusion to a weekend celebrating both the future and the present of Mexican Quarter Horse racing.
