ROCK SPRINGS, WY—SEPTEMBER 1, 2025—A talented field of ten two-year-olds is set to contest the $250,000 Sweetwater Downs Futurity on Friday, September 6, at Sweetwater Downs.
The 350-yard event features some of the Southwest’s brightest juvenile stars, led by #7 Deja Dulce (7-2), #10 Fooseylady (4-1), and #8 Cowboy Cadilac (9-2).
First post is scheduled for 4:20 p.m.
Deja Dulce enters the Futurity as one of the most accomplished runners in the field. Owned by Daisy Carlson and Joe Goggins and trained by Jess R. Matt, the son of leading first-crop sire Dulce Sin Tacha, out of La Deja Blue by Carters Cartel, has won four of seven starts and banked $129,885.
Bred in Oklahoma by Flag Ranch LLC, the sorrel gelding captured his trial heat with a gritty nose victory in 17.324 seconds and also scored decisively in the $235,750 Wyoming Downs Futurity in his previous start, where he outkicked multiple stakes-placed runners.
Regular rider Jacob Cardenas retains the mount, and Deja Dulce brings a perfect three-for-three record at 350 yards into the finals.
Fooseylady comes in off a sharp wire-to-wire victory in her trial, stopping the clock in 17.400 seconds. Owned and trained by Roberto Ortiz, this sorrel filly by champion Foose and out of Laazteca by Ausual Suspect has won three of four career starts, including the Hadley-Giles Futurity earlier this season.
Bred in Utah by Antonio Tinoco, Fooseylady will once again be piloted by Minor Arana. Despite a disqualification two starts back, she has displayed blazing early speed and figures to be one of the top threats from the outside post.
Cowboy Cadilac, a homebred for Bill Doenz, has emerged as a consistent performer for trainer Josh Taylor. The bay colt by leading sire Flying Cowboy 123, out of Ec Brandi by Hes Relentless, has two wins from five starts and comes into the Futurity off a commanding 1¼-length trial win in 17.444 seconds.
Cowboy Cadilac has also proven his class with a gutsy victory in a Wyoming Downs Futurity trial earlier this summer. Juan Pulido takes over riding duties in the finals, and his mount’s experience at this distance gives him a strong chance to factor late.
The $250,000 Sweetwater Downs Futurity promises to showcase an elite group of juveniles, combining raw speed and proven stakes form. With Deja Dulce’s consistency, Fooseylady’s gate-to-wire potential, and Cowboy Cadilac’s power, fans can expect a thrilling dash to the wire at 350 yards.
