LOS ALAMITOS–MARCH 19, 2026–The stars of the future take center stage at Los Alamitos this Saturday night, as four juvenile races launch the 2026 season for 2-year-olds.

Twenty-four freshmen will compete during the Late Pick Four sequence (Races 5 through 8). While Races 5 and 7 are restricted to fillies, Races 6 and 8 are open events. Many of these young sprinters are using these starts as a prep for the trials of the Grade 2 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity, scheduled for mid-April.

The season’s first juvenile contest features Cup Of Gold, a homebred filly for Ed Allred. By AQHA Champion Golden Boi, she hails from a prestigious family that includes major derby winners Norco, Nomadic, and Circle City. Also featured is Salvador Pineda’s Czech Berry Delight, a sharp-looking Arizona-bred out of 2012 Kindergarten Futurity winner Blackberry Czech.

The filly signaled her readiness by posting the "bullet" gate work of :12.2 earlier this month. Allred also sends out Getting Higher, a Favorite Cartel filly out of 2021 Governor’s Cup Futurity winner She Goes Up.

In Race 6, the spotlight shifts to Confidenz, a Texas-bred colt by Freighttrain B. He is a half-brother to the legendary AQHA World Champion and Champion of Champions winner Bodacious Eagle. He faces Jesus Avila’s Budder It Again Kev, a Utah-bred KVN Corona colt out of Budder Think Twice—the runner-up in the Governor’s Cup Futurity and an Ed Burke Million finalist.

Race 7, the second filly division of the night, is led by the partnership of Pedro Mena, Paul Penuelas, and Valentin Zamudio’s Golden Eagles. By Golden Boi out of Eagles Bet, she comes from the elite female line of 1996 La Primera Del Año Derby winner Better Bet On Me. Miguel Osorio’s Call Me Soft is another one to watch; she posted a :12.4 gate work on March 4 and belongs to the family of Grade 1 Golden State Million winner Little Talks.

The eighth and final race features Error Free, a colt owned by Jorge and Jose Gutierrez. He is by Mental Error out of the 10-time winner and multiple graded stakes victress Classic Sassy Chic. Rounding out the field is Ed Allred’s College Boy, a talented Golden Boi colt out of the stakes-placed La Sierran, who set a 220-yard track record during her career. College Boy enters Saturday off a sharp :12.7 work on March 11.
