MEXICO CITY, MEX–March 26, 2026
A nine-race card is set for Sunday at Hipódromo de las Américas, with the spotlight falling on the $15,627 Clásico Velocidad Stakes, a 250-yard dash scheduled as the opening race on the program.

All eyes turn to Br Chivali Nazareno, the commanding 1-1 morning-line favorite and reigning Mexican Champion Aged Horse of 2025. The five-year-old colt has built a dominant résumé, highlighted by victories in the Inaugural Classic and back-to-back triumphs in the Jose Merced Gomez Orozco Classic. He has also etched his name into the record books with new track records at both 220 and 300 yards.

Consistency has defined his career, hitting the board in 28 of 29 starts, including 22 wins, two runner-up finishes, and four thirds, while amassing earnings just shy of $300,000.

Sired by Southern Corona, Br Chivali Nazareno is trained by Jorge Alberto Ruiz Peribán for owner Cuadra Cartas Blancas. The sorrel standout, bred in Mexico by Maximiliano Pérez C., is out of Chivali Go by Gone to the Man. Jockey Miguel Angel Rodriguez will be aboard from post three as they look to add another stakes victory to an already decorated record.

The $15,627 Clásico Velocidad Stakes, featuring four-year-olds and upward, is scheduled for approximately 14:30, setting the tone for an exciting afternoon of racing in Mexico City.
