OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–April 13, 2026—On Friday night, the featured handicap event will kick off a competitive weekend of stakes action with the running of the G2 $50,000 SLM Big Daddy Stakes. Open to three-year-olds and upward, the 550-yard dash brings together nine seasoned runners set to break from the back chute at approximately 10:30 PM, where experience and stamina will be tested down the long stretch.
One Fabulous Boy has been installed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite and brings a proven résumé into the field. The seven-year-old gelding comes off a sharp prep effort on March 29th, where he defeated open-allowance company at the same 550-yard distance by a half-length. A consistent presence in top company, he finished third in this race last season and has remained a factor throughout his 2025 campaign. With ten career victories and earnings of $250,214, he enters in peak form.
Bred in Oklahoma by Diane and Paul Wolfs, the gelding is sired by One Fabulous Eagle and out of Check Out Kaelie by Check Him Out. Trainer Ed Hardy will saddle the veteran from post five, with Angel O. Ramirez set to guide.
Trainer Dee Keener, a leading name on the grounds, will send out Lightnin Strikes as the 4-1 second choice. The four-year-old gelding exits a strong effort in the G2 $50,000 Eastex Stakes on March 14th, where he finished third by a neck at 350 yards to open his season. Prior to that start, he had put together an impressive five-race win streak, steadily climbing the ranks. With five wins and $67,968 in earnings, Lightnin Strikes will stretch out to 550 yards for the first time, presenting a new challenge.
Owned and bred in Oklahoma by Darrell G. Edwards, he is sired by Prized Wagon and out of Sheza Just Zoomin by Jess Zoomin. Roman Cruz retains the mount from post eight.
Presido Pete enters the contest at 5-1 odds and looks poised to make an impact from mid-track. The five-year-old gelding encountered trouble in the G2 Eastex Stakes, finishing fifth, but brings a strong body of work into this event. Last season, he recorded three stakes victories at Arapahoe Park, capturing the Dolls Prodigy Stakes, Leo Beau Dash Stakes, and Rocky Mountain Championship Stakes. With nine wins and $132,493 in earnings, he has demonstrated the ability to compete at a high level.
Bred in Colorado by Francisco J. Cornejos, Presido Pete is sired by The Marfa Lights and out of Tahiti Wave by Wave Carver. Conditioned by Haley N. Hobbs, he will be ridden by Fernando Fonseca-Soto from post six.
A full field of accomplished runners with multiple stakes credentials will line up for Friday night’s G2 $50,000 SLM Big Daddy Stakes, setting the tone for an action-packed weekend. At 550 yards, the added distance demands both speed and staying power, ensuring a competitive and strategic run to the wire.
The races at Remington Park can be watched on Q-Racing Video.
