FARMINGTON, NM–May 11, 2026—The spotlight will shine brightly on New Mexico-bred talent Saturday afternoon at Sunray Park as the track presents a ten-race card beginning at 1:15 PM, highlighted by the running of the RG3 $120,000 New Mexico Breeders Futurity. The highly anticipated final will feature the ten fastest New Mexico-bred juveniles that emerged from the April 24th trial heats, setting the stage for an exciting showdown between some of the state’s most promising young runners.
Leading the field into the futurity is Tungsten Racing Partnership’s standout gelding Big Ted, who enters as the 3-1 morning-line favorite after delivering the fastest qualifying performance in the trials. The impressive juvenile dominated his heat by one and one-quarter lengths, proving clearly best while stamping himself as one of the top two-year-olds currently competing in the New Mexico-bred ranks.
Big Ted has already shown consistency and class early in his young career. The gelding has won two of his three starts and previously qualified for the New Mexico Spring Futurity, where he overcame a troubled start after hopping at the break before rallying gamely to finish third, beaten only three-quarters of a length in a tightly contested finish. His early accomplishments have already generated $54,184 in earnings for his connections.
The promising gelding is sired by TF Im That Guy out of the Shez Jessa Scooter mare Heza Motor Scooter and was bred in New Mexico by Jaimie Cervantes. Trainer Eric Valenzuela will saddle the talented juvenile from the outside post ten, while jockey Jordy S. Muniz returns aboard in hopes of capturing one of the premier futurities for New Mexico-bred runners.
Saturday’s RG3 $120,000 New Mexico Breeders Futurity promises to showcase the future of New Mexico racing as ten talented juveniles sprint for glory. With rising stars, emerging pedigrees, and valuable black-type on the line, the atmosphere at Sunray Park is expected to be electric as these young New Mexico-Breds look to leave their mark in one of the state’s marquee futurity events.
The races at Sunray Park can be watched on Q-Racing Video.
