VINTON, LA–May 20, 2026Friday night at Delta Downs promises an exciting showcase of Louisiana-Bred talent as the nine-race card builds toward the Restricted Grade 2 $302,335 Lassie Futurity and the $50,000 Lassie Stakes. With talented juvenile fillies set to sprint 330 yards under the lights, the evening is shaping up to be one of the season's most exciting programs.

The featured event, the Restricted Grade 2 Lassie Futurity, will close out the evening in race nine, with the ten fastest qualifiers from the April 30 trial heats returning for the lucrative finale. Set to load into the gate at approximately 9:35 PM, the field includes several rising stars, led by the undefeated standout Mc Blue Cartel.

Installed as the heavy 3-5 morning-line favorite, Mc Blue Cartel has quickly established herself as one of the top Louisiana-Bred juveniles in training. The talented filly enters the futurity perfect three-for-three, highlighted by her impressive victory in the Grade 2 Mardi Gras Futurity. With $204,330 already earned in just three starts, she has proven class and consistency and shows every indication she may still be improving.

Owned by Jaime Cardenas, the filly is sired by Carters Cartel and out of the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Mc Bluecorona. She was bred in Louisiana by Bottoms Up Racing and has emerged as a major force for conditioner Josue Ponce. Regular rider Jorge J. Garcia will once again be aboard as the accomplished filly breaks from post three in search of another graded stakes victory.

While Mc Blue Cartel enters as the one to beat, the rest of the field will be chasing the chance to upset the favorite and win one of the richest juvenile races on the Louisiana calendar. With ten talented fillies returning from competitive trial heats, fans can expect a thrilling dash to the wire in the evening’s finale.

Earlier on the card, excitement begins in race seven with the running of the $50,000 Lassie Stakes. Another talented group of Louisiana-Bred fillies will compete at 330 yards, with post time scheduled for approximately 9:10 PM.

Leading the field is Kj Dashin Girl, the 5-2 morning-line favorite who still seeks her first career victory despite remarkable consistency in her young career. The filly has finished second in all three of her starts and appears poised to break through in stakes company.

Owned by Double J Racing, Kj Dashin Girl was purchased for $26,000 at the LQHBA Yearling Sale and has continued to show promise in each outing. The daughter of Kj Mucho Macho Man is out of the Heza Fast Dash mare Fast Girl Friend and was bred in Louisiana by DGC, LLC and Damian Trahan. Trainer Josue Ponce will saddle the filly from post six, with jockey Victor M. Urieta, Jr. in the irons.

With two major events dedicated to Louisiana-Bred fillies, Friday night at Delta Downs will showcase the depth of young talent emerging in the state. From proven graded stakes winners to fillies seeking breakthrough victories, the evening promises plenty of speed, excitement, and memorable moments under the Delta Downs lights.
