EDMONTON, AB–May 20, 2026Saturday afternoon racing at Century Mile Racetrack and Casino kicks off in exciting fashion as a competitive field of ten runners prepares to battle in the $24,836 Century Maiden Express Final. The 350-yard feature opens the nine-race program, with the gate scheduled to spring at approximately 4:45 PM.
Leading the field is the talented filly Warning Shott, who enters the final as the 9-5 morning-line favorite following an impressive maiden-breaking performance on May 8th. The sophomore filly showed determination in that effort, digging in late to score by three-quarters of a length after a clean trip from start to finish.
Warning Shott has quietly built a consistent résumé throughout her young career. During her two-year-old campaign, she made six starts, recording three runner-up finishes and two third-place efforts. She also proved she could compete with tougher company by qualifying for both the Grade 3 Canada Cup Futurity and the Century Mile Juvenile Challenge Stakes.
The filly is sired by Mpshinning and out of the Separatist mare Separate Flight, bred in California by Steve D. Burns, DVM. Owner Jerry Stojan secured the filly for $11,000 at the Los Alamitos Yearling Sale, and she now appears to be developing into a strong bargain purchase. Conditioner William H. Leech will saddle the improving filly from post six, with Ricardo Moreno named aboard.
While Warning Shott brings proven consistency into the final, the rest of the field will be looking to upset the favorite and capture the spotlight in the opening feature of the afternoon. With ten hungry runners set to sprint 350 yards, fans can expect a fast, competitive dash to launch what promises to be an exciting day of Quarter Horse racing at Century Mile.
