SHELBYVILLE, IN–MAY 31, 2026–The Tuesday afternoon program at Horseshoe Indianapolis is set to deliver an exciting finish as a talented field of ten sprinters lines up for the $34,000 Carter Riley Overnight Stakes. Scheduled as the feature event on the nine-race card, the 350-yard dash is slated for approximately 6:15 p.m. and will bring together accomplished veterans and proven stakes performers for a thrilling finale.

Drawing the rail and installed as the 5-2 morning-line favorite is the accomplished Mr Michel. The seven-year-old gelding enters the race with an impressive resume that includes multiple graded stakes victories, 17 career wins, and earnings of $737,460. His lone start of the season came against open allowance company, where a troubled beginning that included crowding and bumping compromised his chances, resulting in a fifth-place finish.

Mr Michel closed out his 2025 campaign in winning fashion with a victory in the Indiana Championship Stakes, and he will look to regain that form on Tuesday. The son of Kiss My Hocks, out of the Likenothinyoueversaw mare Lovemelikethat, was bred in Indiana by Mark Michel. Racing for owner Alberto Valadez, the veteran campaigner will break from post one with Edgar Diaz aboard as he seeks the eighteenth victory of his distinguished career.

While Mr Michel brings the strongest credentials to the race, the Carter Riley Overnight Stakes appears far from a one-horse race. The compact 350-yard distance leaves little room for error, and several talented rivals have the speed and experience to challenge for the win.
