JEROME, ID–JUNE 4, 2026–The Sunday card at the Jerome County Fair promises an exciting afternoon of Quarter Horse racing, as a ten-race program gets underway with a first post of 1:00 p.m. The spotlight will shine on the Roche Equine Futurity Trials and the Five Livestock Company & Rod Mills Memorial Derby Trials, where juveniles and sophomores will compete for coveted spots in their respective finals on June 21.

The Roche Equine Futurity Trials will feature eighteen two-year-olds competing in three trial heats at 330 yards during races four, five, and six. The ten fastest qualifiers will earn a return trip to the $15,000-added Roche Equine Futurity Final, setting the stage for some of the region’s most promising young runners to showcase their talent.

The opening trial heat of race four features Wacky Wednesday as the 5-2 morning-line favorite. The colt has already shown his ability in limited starts, winning his career debut in the trials and advancing to the Pocatello Downs Spring Futurity, where he finished a respectable third.

Owned by LG Racing, LLC, the Utah-bred son of Apollitical Blood out of the Sir Runaway Dash mare Runaway Witch will break from the rail under jockey Luis A. Collazo. Trained by Abelardo Gonzalez, Wacky Wednesday will aim to build on his early success and secure a return trip to the final.

Race five features the second futurity trial and the talented dual-registered filly Pevs Ima Lazajane, who has been installed as the 7-2 morning-line favorite. The filly made an immediate impression in her lone career start, breaking sharply and never looking back to capture the $5,000 Pocatello Downs Paint & Appaloosa Futurity Division 2.

Owned by Eddie Jensen, who purchased her for $10,000 at the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale, the Oklahoma-bred daughter of Phq Apollitical Jess out of Ima Pyc China Doll brings both speed and versatility to the trials. Gordon and Jackie Pevehouse bred the filly, and trainer Weston Smith has her prepared to leave from post three with Luis Cruz Ruiz aboard.

Attention then shifts to the older division, where twelve three-year-olds compete in two trial heats for the Five Livestock Company & Rod Mills Memorial Derby Trials in races eight and nine. The sophomores will run 350 yards, with the ten fastest qualifiers advancing to the $10,000-added Five Livestock Company & Rod Mills Memorial Derby Final on June 21.

Leading the first derby trial in race eight is Bg Follow My Lead, the 7-2 morning-line favorite. The dual-registered gelding enters the event in strong form after finishing second by a neck in the Gary & Sherilyn Blattner Memorial Derby. His juvenile season was highlighted by three consecutive victories, including a triumph in the Rocky Mountain Classic Futurity and two additional stakes wins. The talented gelding has earned $22,248 in six career starts for owners Scott and Sherry Erickson.

Bred in Oklahoma by Mike and Jay Lynn Hester, Bg Follow My Lead is by Capo de Capi and out of the Judys Lineage mare Skip Away Shadow. Trainer Wasey Erickson has the gelding ready to break from post six, with Never T. Marin taking the call as they seek another strong effort and a place in the June 21 final.

From promising first-time starters to proven stakes performers aiming to continue their rise through the ranks, the Jerome County Fair card offers plenty of storylines and excitement. With championship dreams on the line and only the fastest advancing, every stride will matter as competitors race to secure their place in the Roche Equine Futurity and the Five Livestock Company & Rod Mills Memorial Derby Finals.
