ATLOONA, IA–JUNE 12, 2026–The Monday afternoon program at Prairie Meadows promises an exciting showcase of the sport’s next generation, as a fourteen-race card gets underway with a first post at 2:30 p.m. The spotlight will shine on seventy talented 2-year-olds competing in eight trial heats for the Prairie Meadows Gold Futurity Trials, each covering 350 yards in pursuit of one of ten coveted berths in the July 4 finale of the estimated $225,000 Prairie Meadows Gold Futurity.
Few trainers will have a larger presence in the afternoon than horseman Jason L. Olmstead, who will saddle an impressive twenty-three runners across the eight trial heats. Nearly every trial will feature multiple representatives from the powerful barn, giving Olmstead a strong opportunity to dominate the qualifying leaderboard.
Leading the stable's charge is Apollitikal Dreamer, who headlines the third race as the even-money morning-line favorite. The promising gelding has yet to finish out of the money in three career starts and enters the trials off a win in the $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile Stakes. His consistent efforts have already earned $52,054, making him one of the most accomplished runners in the field.
Owned and bred in Oklahoma by Brenda Reiswig, Apollitikal Dreamer is a son of Apollitical Jess, out of the Hes Relentless mare One Kool Dreamer. He will break from the rail under regular rider Ramiro H. Garcia as he seeks a spot in the lucrative July 4 championship.
The fourth trial heat features another accomplished juvenile, Cyber Jessie, the 2-1 morning-line favorite. The filly arrives at Prairie Meadows undefeated, having won both of her career starts, including an impressive victory in the $100,000 Bucking Horse Sale Futurity. Her perfect record has already generated $52,250 in earnings for Wilson Racing Stables, which secured her for just $8,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
Bred in Oklahoma by Cuadra JM, LLC, Cyber Jessie is by Cyber Monday and out of the Hes Relentless mare Relentless Jessie. Trainer Robert Don Johnson will send the filly from post six, with jockey Kody Kellenberger guiding the talented youngster in her quest for a qualifying performance.
Another contender expected to draw plenty of attention appears in the sixth race, where Eyesa Chick Magnet is listed as the 9-5 morning-line favorite. The gelding won two of his first three starts and earned $25,065 before running into trouble in the Grade 3 Laico Bird Stakes. A return to his earlier form would make him a serious threat to earn a place in the final.
Owned and bred in Oklahoma by Stacy Charette-Hill, Eyesa Chick Magnet is a son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon, out of the Country Chicks Man mare Eyesa Candy Chick. Trainer Stacy Charette-Hill will saddle the gelding from post four, with stable rider Cristian R. Esqueda aboard for the important trial assignment.
With seventy juveniles spread across eight competitive trial heats, the battle for the top ten qualifying spots is expected to be fierce from the opening gate through the final race. Established stakes winners, undefeated prospects, and emerging young talent will all be chasing the same goal—a return trip to Prairie Meadows on July 4 to compete for futurity glory. Fans and horseplayers can look forward to a thrilling afternoon as the next wave of Quarter Horse stars attempts to punch their ticket to one of the season's richest juvenile events.
