OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 10, 2022---The Sam Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund will be conducting their annual live stallion season auction at the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale to be held Thursday thru Saturday in Oklahoma City.
The Sam Thompson Memorial Scholarship fund awards scholarships to candidates with direct ties to the horse racing community that are attending college, technical or vocational school.
Starting on Thursday (Jan. 13) the first items for bid will be offered prior to Hip 1 going through the sales ring in Oklahoma City. Breeding's to First Down Dash, Apollitical Blood, Kvn Corona, Dulce Sin Tacha, and Jet Black Patriot will be auctioned off to benefit the Sam Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
On Friday (Jan. 14), prior to Hip 313 going through the sales ring, breeding's to FDD Dynasty, Jess Good Candy, Teller Cartel, First Down Dash and Kiss My Hocks will be auctioned off to benefit the scholarship fund.
Aside from the stallion breedings, the Sam Thompson Memorial Foundation will also be conducting a silent auction in the lobby outside of the Heritage Place sales ring pavilion with multiple items of interest from decor to memorabilia of significant horse racing memorabilia.
One of the silent-auction items available will be the signed jockey pants worn by multiple AQHA Racing Champion Jockey James Flores when he crossed the wire in front to win the 2019 All American Futurity(G1) aboard Mr Jess Jenkins.
Some of the other items up for silent-auction are an original Carol Hendrix painting, a handmade quilt from Connie Rosenthall, a signed Tim Cox print with frame, a Pendleton Basket, and more.
The Sam Thompson Memorial Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on the health, education and welfare of those in the racing community. The foundation has awarded over $320,000 in scholarships to date.
